Actually has me interested in downloading KR again.
Update one: Giant Renewal
Giant looks will be updated, specifically males. Their muscle design will be reworked. Many more clothing will be added.
Javalin damage is buffed ("greatly"), roughly implying they will do more damage than arrows.
Taunt and Wind Guard's effects will increase.
GO GIANTS.

Update two: Crash Shot
Crash Shot is a new archer skill with an "explosive effect similar to ice mine".
The shot will only explode if there are additional enemies nearby the original target.
The more enemies there are to explode on, the more damage the original target will receive.

The shot will not knock down the opponent, so you won't have to worry about interrupting your party member's attack.

These new Giants remind me of the people who came to North America during the last Ice Age. The ones who hunted Mammoths and ate them for lunch and dinner. That's how they should have been from the beginning.

My thoughts exactly. I'd actually consider playing a giant now, I couldn't stand how they looked before. Of course I'm not going to, but...
But even more yay, new archery skills! I've been thinking that we archers are rather short on skills. I wonder if support shot will be worth using at all?

Wow, male Giants actually look decent now. The preview could have been better by showing these new clothes that Giants can wear, since they just showed what Giants can already wear.
And I want that new hairstyle for Giantesses. Dx Oh well, hopefully they've finally added some magical clothing for Giantesses in this update. It sucks having absolutely no way of getting Raccoon Cub at all.

Support Shot reminds me of Frozen Blast now, in a way.
You shoot the enemy and then the next attack on the enemy deals more damage than it would normally.
Sorta like Frozen Blast how you reduce Defense and Protection, which equals more damage.
Looks useful for party play.

If its % based, the game is now broken. Watch fireballs launch with added % bonus.

What's also sexy is crash shot. Looks like ranged people finally get a decent range-based splash attack.
This is really interesting, giants look nice (I still don't like their animations though...) , and the support shot effect is interesting.

i kinda like the way my giant looks now can we keep the same faces we have now or will they look like the new ones in the future? because the preview of the new looks that was shown makes giants look too much like humans the more rounded face annoys me but the new facial features like the war paint looks good and the new attack stance with a sword looks cool. I really hope the new support shot is good and the giant females finally look right i hope g12 comes soon.

I'd rather still go magnum shot, unless this thing proves better at rank 1.
The skill would've been better if it had a firework-like effect and the explosions ricochet from unit to unit, with the possibility of hitting the same unit multiple times. Like, "the number of times it strikes equals the number of enemies". The damage potential would be higher than magnum if you're targeting a crowd. Plus you'd hold them longer since it strikes multiple times.
Meh, whatever. To me this looks identical to blaze with a few numerical and slight technical differences.

The rounder faces is so-so to me but the much greater variety more than makes up for it. I definitely will be getting a prem rebirth when these changes hit.
As for skills, I want to know about the changes to wind guard/taunt or w/e they changed. Crash shot looks like it's more for single target damage and has greater splash range than magnum though it's less useful against bosses that don't have lots of minions nearby. Support shot...Are they seriously adding party play mechanics? Awesome~
Oh, and the cooking revamp is nice too~

This, is, awesome. We finally get face tattoos like Kirine and Krug. Their appearance underwent pedomorphism so they don't look "Manly/Womanly" anymore, some people might not like this. Renewed animation, pretty cool (the Giant held the Vales Great Sword like Riku KHII :x ). Throwing Attack just got more stronger. The load time apparently is still 2 Seconds, but it indeed became stronger. I don't know about stats adding damage however. Also Long Javelins are sold at NPC shops apparently.

Here's some intel that I know about Crash Shot: Ranking it will make the blast effect stronger. At rank 1 it gives approximately 16 Mana and 31 Dex however, it costs a whopping 490 AP for Rank 1. It takes about 3 seconds to load.
Throwing Attack just gets a new damage formula, instead of the crappy Magic Bolt-style one where it adds damage and not boost damage with percent. At Rank F Throwing Attack deals 300% damage, about the same damage as a Rank 9 Magnum Shot. At Rank 1 it deals 900% damage. It seems utterly overpowered, however I believe that stats still do not affect damage for Throwing Attack. Also I don't believe that the Atlatls were upgraded to become upgradable, so the highest damage range a Giant can get with a Feather Atlatl + Long Javelin is 19~38. I am not 100% accurate since I based this from looking at the KTest.
I still don't understand how can a Giant "Knock down an Enemy with Throwing Attack" if the load time is still 2 seconds. They should have reduced the load time to 1.5 Seconds at least so we can actually Knock Down/Back some enemies.

by the way these aren't really something that ppl care about, but i will add these improvements for people who care
-loading screens added for logging in and switching channels.
-in option you will be able to change the keyboard settings of other games. so that newcomers who are not used to mabi keyboard, but used to WOW, maple, dragon nest, aion, linage, etc keyboard can play mabinogi without having trouble getting used to the keyboard
-the tara npcs who previously were homeless and didn't have a building for their shops now have indoor shops
-the infamous tara bank part time job will always give the fragment to falias
-some generation storyline quests are nerfed so that ppl can beat them easily
-you can look at C3 cutscenes in dunbarton now

So why throw the arrow up? Looks like you can't link it with other Ranged Attacks.
Anyways, not much of a difference yet. If elves don't get a buff with this skill, humans will have the edge over it. The load time seems to be the exact same as well. Though the splash range for the elf's Crash Shot seems larger, it's more plausible it's an animation glitch.
What I'm really psyched for is the Support Shot buff. It weakens enemies for the next hit? Elves, can you say Support to Magnum?

Tell that to an Elf who Crit 500 damage with Windmill all around.
Not to mention even though Throwing Attack became stronger, it still is not useful as a main offense like how Melee Elves are possible. Throwing Attack needs a load time decrease. This is the most important IMO so it actually becomes usable especially if a Giant wants to PvP, they can fend themselves against CC+4 Icebolt Wands. At least 1.5 Seconds would suffice. You cannot KB an enemy with Throwing Attack alone, so therefore it is hard to train. You need support from a Pet/Friend to hit an enemy then throw a Javelin to KB it. Also if it really is not implemented, Throwing Attack needs to be buffed by stats. All the Dex we're getting is basically wasted, other than for balance.

Well actually I am not 100% certain that the load time is still 2 Seconds. There is a video with the new Throwing Attack in action, but I can't seem to get it to work for me. No love for the Support Shot buff? Oh come on, it increases the damage of the next hit! Think about it elves, if it's a 50% increase, your next normal shot will be 150% x 2, 300%. If you can load a Magnum, which is plausible, that's a 750% damage.

G10 improved Stomp by a lot and brought in 50 Javelin stacks instead of 20, I think.
The load time for Throwing Attack still remained the same, however.
Support shot buff is nice but I hardly combat on my human anymore and my elf is a mage so...
I'm ok with a two second load time given the instant 99% aim and very high damage. Don't forget that damage enchants apply to TA as well so a 4/2 fox should add 36/18 damage at rank 1. 3 fox enchants means you're breaking 400 damage without a crit...totally worthwhile.

He 1 shots a freaking brown fox, so it doesn't tell you much of anything. Also he ranks it from E to D. Although it does appear that your ammo stock of javelins is represented by a number over the skill. He gets kb for a 1hko. Also, I think that if you are at max distance and run away from the mob while reloading, you can get in three hits and the mob will be kb'd on hit three. But I haven't used throwing attack since I capped it a year ago, so that's just guesswork.

The non-KBs seem like a glitch to me. I mean, it's part of the training requirements. There should be knockbacks.

It is not a glitch. 2 Second load time skills cannot knock back, even if they are spammed. Try spamming 1 shot of Rank F~A Shoot one then load one then repeat. You will never be able to KB anything. Rank 9~1 Icebolt being spammed can KB because it has 1.5 load time.

That's exactly how I feel. I know that you can use the Party Finish to All trick to get the KB/Kills for Throwing Attack. My Throw was capped when I had 900+ CP. I'm just ranting on how a training requirement needs you to KB a monster yet you cannot do it only with Throwing Attack itself. They should either decrease Throwing Attack's load time while they can to at least 1.5 Seconds or just remove the "Knockdown an enemy" training requirement and make it easier to train.

The point is that it is stupid how Throwing Attack needs outside assistance for skill training. Yes, every Giant knows how to train Throwing Attack (I hope). Either kill the enemy with melee with Finish to All then kill with Javelin, or have a 2nd character/pet KB the enemy first then quickly shoot a Javelin during their KB animation to KB them.
As I have said, it is impossible to KB an enemy by spamming a 2 Second load time skill. The approximate minimum load time needed for a possible KB is 1.5 seconds in which the 4th hit will KB instead of the 3rd.
DPS is already pretty high with 2-second charge time, so 1.5 might break the skill, no? They can of course reduce the attack percentage to balance things out but that might ruin the skills purpose which, I think, is to be a respectable ranged attack counterpart for giants that is only inferior to humans' and elves' in terms of speed.
Well, before we jump to any further conclusions, have you only been testing the skill with type of atlatli? I remember there being different attack speeds for different atlatli. I'm too lazy to check though.

I read that the Master Title of Support Shot allows for 200% damage dealt to a monster that's been weakened.

Yes, but how are you supposed to get passed Rank 5 Throwing Attack's training? It's going to be hard to "One Hit K.O. an Awful level enemy", or even find Boss level enemies to kill with a non-KB skill Throwing Attack.
Knockback doesn't mean you have to kill the monster in one hit. Basically it is either ... well knockback, or kill the monster. You can WM, Smash or whatever, and on party finish set to all, finish with a Javelin. It is like bolt training.

At worse, it will be like Final Shot/Hit in which most people get it for the +stats, at best it will be a skill that range users use often.

Well its easily Done with a pet... cause if you've even spent like 5 mins training it , you would know that it is easy to knockdown

Exactly why this skill is pretty meh for an elf if there is no elf buff for it. Though it depends how much better it looks at rank 1.
The splash range on crash shot is immensely huge compared to magnum shot. It also doesn't KB anything but the target and possibly not that either. I can see a myriad of uses despite the load time.
The damage to each of the enemies caught in the explosions seems pretty devastating too and these enemies aren't provoked into aggro. Perhaps it'll be useful to severely cripple mutli-aggro monsters. I also see there's a cool down period in-between volleys of crash arrow. Maybe it works like wind cannon in that respect.

Okay my confidence is restored for this skill. However, does the damage increase exponentially with each enemy or not? The damage at rank F looks a little unimpressive at three mobs, even for a character right out of creation, according to the video that Lan fished out. But the first video, it does decent damage out of creation in a pool of 6. Yeah I'm hard to please (still say elves should have two asplosions for double boom-boom).

What the hell. I heard that there's a 25 SECOND COOLDOWN FOR THROWING ATTACK. Are they serious...?? If this is true, the old Throwing Attack is way more better even if it's weaker.

It's a one shot. It's just like Charge, except it has a 25 second cooldown instead of a 10 second cooldown. This is definitely harder to train now.
Oh, that's not too bad actually. I was afraid that giants would get a 2-second ranged attack that could out-damage chaincast fireball lol

They're build specifically for ranged combat, but to balance out their short loading time for skills, like elf ranged attack and magnum, they have low aim rate. .5 seconds becomes 3-4 seconds before the actual attack is fired, with a chance of missing. They can, of course, zone in on the enemy to fire quick shots, but humans and giants can already do that efficiently, and some times more safely, with their melee skills.

I can crit 1.7k all around? Looks like that elf is one that is nearing the limits of his melee potential. Giants and humans can do much better with dual wield.

All I can say is, glad I got Throwing Attack capped as soon as I can. It seems like it's going to be hell for new Giants and Giants that put the skill off to the side because it isn't that good now. But I guarantee you that G12S3 or whatever devCAT's next update is, it will probably reduce the time from 25 to a lot less, or at least have the cooldown time go down with rank. I see no reason as to how it can take someone 25 seconds to load an Atlatl, unless the person has never seen an Atlatl in their life and told to attack a dummy with no instruction what-so-ever.

My big irritation is how they grabbed a skill that was dead for 6 Generations and tried to apparently "buff it up" but only to kill it even more. You can't even get this past Rank A at this rate, but at least everything is still in Test Server status so there might be changes.

I can see crash shot's potential in late game. Obviously at early game like most skills it is rather useless against high end mobs (although it is fun to use).
Only way you can truly see it's damage is with good gear and a good player using it.
I can't really depict that in the test server since I don't arch anything... ever...

I don't like the giant renewal, they bishified what once was a proud race of manly beef and, as someone said earlier, paedofied their Women. Then, adding insult to Injury they added face tatoos. Those better be effing optional.

Didn't read through the whole thread, but maybe this giant renewal means giants can wear -cp wizard suits now.
Since they were pretty much gimp when it comes to -cp options before...unless you can pump out basic spaika/rose plates like crazy.

What they should have done was make javelins have a similar effect to Magnum Shot. As in it's blockable but has knock back on hit.
Decrease the damage % and decrease/remove the cooldown time. 25 seconds? Really?
It's so useless now. At least before it was possible to javelin -> counter
