1) i got a new netbook, and new internet. it is windows 7, and i've already done the denagling crap from that guide on nation. when i was using my cousin's comp, also windows 7, i lagged like crazy, to the extent that all i could fight is basic / int because i get hit a lot. i have about 1 - 1.5 second reaction delays, so skills are useless to me. i thought it was maybe cuz my cous had slow internet speed, but when i tested my new internet ping it said it's 5, which is supposed to be fast, right?? yet i lag a lot more than when i was living in cali with a much slower internet, about the same lag as at my cousin's house. btw my netbook has a 1 gig ram and 250 gig space. i think my old laptop when i lived in cali had 1 gig ram as well.

is it because i live farther from cali?? or... is it cuz it's windows 7?? if that is the problem, how do i fix it?? (like install windows xp for free)

2) also, my netbook's f buttons (f1, f2, etc) are function keys, so i need to press Fn key and then the f button to activate the f1 key, otherwise, without the Fn key, it just makes music louder, screen brighter, etc. i called hp for help but i literally waited like 20 minutes on hold so i just hung up. is there a way to reverse the function keys permanently??

it would be great if a computer buff could help me xD i dont know squat about em.

Hurtfully

For the F keys problem..

Try pressing Fn + NumLock(F11)

Since you own a netbook and netbooks are almost exclusively powered by the Intel Atom Processor. They are really low powered, at about 1.2 Ghtz on average. Your Mabinogi lag isn't due to distance lag, but lag because your hardware is inadequate. Your Processors don't have enough power to run Mabinogi smoothly in the easy to read kind of way. Even the dual core netbooks wouldn't help since Mabinogi is single core only.

Netbooks aren't really meant for gaming, more for word processing and web surfing.

About the Function thing, use F11. It may not have numlock but it should have F11.

hmmm but the thing is, i lagged a lot with my cousin's computer as well; hers was a desktop with windows 7, and she lives nearby.
my netbook is a bit laggier, but by a little.

also, about the f11,
the default function for the f11 key is muting. when i pressed fn+[mute/f11] button for a couple secs, it just did what f11 normally does: make the current window bigger / maximizing.. or smaller. and the window just went crazy changing sizes for a while.

Justified

I don't have a function lock either, so I know that doesn't come on all netbooks. Although, there are programs out there that let you personalize the buttons on your keyboard (for example, if I wanted [1] to be [F1]).
You could try SharpKeys, though I haven't used it so I don't know how good it is.

I'm able to play both Mabi and Vindictus on my netbook.
I don't know how well the Intel Atom is (if that's what you have), but my AMD Athlon 1.7GHz feels like it's barely enough to run smoothly. It uses 100% CPU resources on Mabi, and with 2GB RAM I'm at around 80% memory usage, though I'm still lagless aside from a crappy ISP. Anything lower than that probably doesn't cut it, especially if you don't have a dedicated graphics card to save more memory usage.
