It's a trilogy so it's really $180
Just noticed the Canadian price is the same as the American price.

USD and CAD are pretty much equal now. In fact CAD beat USD a couple of times by fractions of cents in the past few weeks.

Still cheaper than MMOs with monthly pay and/or cash shop though.

$60? That's normal for a lot of pricing on games.........

I thought it was only $180 if you wanted to play all three campaigns.
And yeah, $60 is fairly normal for games now.

$60 is for console games
$50 is the standard price for PC games

Not really. Overly marked up any way you put it. Only worth it is if you're a dead on fan.
I'm pre-ordered for it anyways (didn't get my beta key yet). i'm justifying the price diff between standard and collector it by saying it's another key for SC/BW on the USB Drive... meh.
And apparently, there is no direct LAN. don't know if theres any new news about that but last that's what I last heard.

Now this is true I would get a mmo that costs $60 rather then one with a monthly supscription

well for that, there's always unofficial channels. still lame and all..

Guild Wars would cater to that..
I'm more partial to F2P.. if there is a startup cost, it should have single player content offline period.. multiplayer+MMO optional.

Wait for five years, the game would be 15$ and people would still be playing. Or wait for starcraft 3.

That's what I meant for starcraft 3, little starcraft player joke.
And I'm pretty sure I saw starcraft in a black and gold box for 15$ somewhere, w/o the expansion.

Starcraft is still one of the most played online games out there ._.
And how is collector's edition "not worth it"?
I mean, yes, I know what you're trying to say. 99 dollars is a lot of money for a game. But lets just think in very technical details.
Things you get asides from the game itself for the collector's edition:
The Art of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, a 176-page book featuring artwork from the game
An exclusive 2GB USB flash drive replica of Jim Raynor's dog tag, which comes preloaded with the original StarCraft and the StarCraft: Brood War(R) expansion set
A behind-the-scenes DVD containing over an hour of developer interviews, cinematics with director's commentary, and more
The official StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty soundtrack CD, containing 14 epic tracks from the game along with exclusive bonus tracks
StarCraft comic book issue #0, a prequel to the comic series
A World of Warcraft(R) mini Thor in-game pet that can be applied to all World of Warcraft characters on a single Battle.net account
Exclusive Battle.net downloadable content, including special portraits for your Battle.net profile, decals to customize your units in-game, and a visually unique version of the terran Thor unit
Now imagine how much each of those would be worth in the market.
Hell, if I bought a collector's edition and turned it around for separate resale, I'd probably make like a 30 dollar profit.

Hard to top a game like Starcraft, but who knows if they'll be able to sell all of the collector's edition stuff. I remember the Best Buy near my house still had a few Halo 3 collector's edition (helmet container) sets after a month since its release.

Halo fanbase < Starcraft fanbase.
Halo fans waited = A few years
Starcraft fans waited = Decades
Number of society issues caused by Halo = A few notable news articles about violence in video games
Number of society issues caused by Starcraft = Deaths. In the 2nd digit.
Halo 3 Collectors edition = Still unsold after a month
Starcraft Collectors edition = Where?!

Is there even anything who can compete with starcraft? If WoW didn't exist, then warcraft might...

Warcraft 3 userbase was pretty high, but most of the game users played the DOTA games instead of the actual game itself.
