her magic effects look awesome and she is a really cute character but.. shes not all that great... it could be just me, what do you guys think?

Annoying slow dodge is pretty annoying.
Though I only used Evie for the tutorial intro section to try her out, her normals are so slow (and I'm too used to rushing up to the enemy due to excessive Fiona playing).
It's just you. I love my Evie.

I guess it really just depends on your play style.

Her play style obviously isn't for everyone, but she currently has my attention over my Fiona. It's a good change of pace, imo.

I'm in love with my Evy, seriously. I love her little jump backs (it's enough to swing/jump back normal mobs, then use magic). And I love using firebolt then jumping back out of range (or running). :D And I -love- being able to heal party members. I can't wait till I get further along.
Haven't even made it out of the first boat yet, but unlike Fiona, I just can't think of a way that Evie could solo something like The Reaper. Lann at least has double slip dashes, and someone else could comment better on Lann's solo ability, but if a Fiona's shield breaks against the Reaper, you really run into extremely dangerous territory. Evie has a weaker dash and no shield, so yeah. Just my initial thoughts.
I'll leave my thoughts unsaid until I get her a scythe.

Eh.. so far, I think Evie's pretty boring :S (Lv. 12)
I'm just playing until she gets a Scythe, then I'll decide

definitely, i think you do need to think more to were you step with her, too many mistakes = death

i had so much problems with clifford "the gnol chief" with a party of evies that really disappointed me, her dash was not working good for me =(

i think she can solo but it would take forever to cheap away health from big bosses
well maybe evie is just not my style im fine with that.

I'm enjoying playing as an Evie, though I think I'm doing it wrong.
/mostly uses melee with the occasional Firebolt on large mobs
Sure, her dodge is meh and slowish, but for what I've been fighting so far, it's more than enough. I'm enjoying the practical imperviousness with the magic shields, haven't even lost any HP yet, even when I soloed the Gnoll Chieftain, which is a lot more than I can say for when I'm at my best with Lann. Eagle Talon is awesome, especially when soloing, since I can run circles around enemies to charge it, then release it for a very good chance to knockdown or stun enemies, which then allow me to either start up a Smash4 combo, or start charging up a Firebolt safely.
Though so far, the only thing I don't like about Evie is how you can't grab enemies. How am I supposed to get the special throw titles if I can't even grab my enemies? :<

Not that hard, the hard part for me was aiming the spears to knock his helmet off. Dx
But if you understand his AI and signs for attacks, it's quite simple to avoid. After the overhead hammer swing, which is easily dodged by either using the dodge off to the side of him when he comes down, or even by running around, he gives you enough time to charge up a Firebolt without retaliation. His spin attack has you keep a distance away, since you can't really escape it if you're in range like you can with Lann or Fiona, but by sprinting, you can charge up Eagle Talon to land once he stops, potentially stunning him, thus opening up another Firebolt. When Firebolt is in cooldown, even after using Stamina Restoration, just use Eagle Talon followed by a Smash3, Smash2 if you don't think you'll have enough time, Smash 4 if you were just barely out of range from his attack. Not as damaging as Firebolt, but Smash4 also has a good chance to stun. Magic Arrows are your friend if you want to completely play it safe, even if it'll take you like 100 blasts, if not more, to kill him.
Sure, I haven't tried him on Hard Macha, but even Hard Gnoll Chieftain was easy and not that damaging if you know what you're doing. As I said, the hard part in my fight with him was aiming the spear, because I'm used to Lann's and Fiona's normal over the shoulder view compared to Evie's hip view.
And well, the only other thing that annoys me about Evie is that I can't access the Marketplace or the cash shop, so I can't do much. I want to get more inventory space since I'm almost out, and I want to buy some cheap materials so I can craft the Scarlet Witch set. D:

Why couldn't Evie solo anything?
I mean, now you have a character that's ranged, you can literally keep running and shooting stuffs forever.
Unless you're so impatient, you want to finish the dungeon within 5 minutes. Then that's just you.
Maybe you and your party are just bad and don't know how to use Evie? No offense. I solo'd the Chieftain pretty easily. In fact... I've solo'd everything so far without a problem.

I ditto to what Tasha said. o_O I solo'd the red gnoll (hard Mode, Warrior solo thingy) easily enough, it took a while (cause I was trying to get his helmet off and I like the running around and dodging. :( The only thing I have against Evy so far is that.. she throws like a girl, a very very wimpy girl.
Also, I think the problem is that everyone was expecting total ranged spells. Not to mention everyone is so used to having melee only so far. I've also run into some pretty bad Evy's though (why do they run in and charge? D: Why? It's sad when I have to use restoration for healing). It's not like I'm that great at Evy either, but I'm so used to magic types that it's like "whee! Finally! Flashy spells and fragile-ism!".

Oh trust me, when i was making my Scarlet witch set, the materials werent cheap, people are taking advantage of the hordes of evies, so materials are like 10k for everything needed, i spent about 80k making my set .-.
I think evie is great tho, i soloed gnoll cheiftain at level 12, which i wouldnt dream of doing on my level 19 fiona cuz im horrible with fiona, the magic shields are great, i can basicly go up to the chieftain and nuke him with firebolt and not be murdered while im charging it, then i just magic arrow spam till i get my shields back, Evie is so awesome
lol I solo'd the chief with Fiona on hard totally naked at level 9. Many many times...
Oh, I'm playing naked on Evie as well by the way... and always Hard.

Evie is awesome. Fireball is f**king amazing, and I love her combos.
*fanboy*
I wasn't really thinking I'd like her too much due to having an impression she was of the frail mage persuasion, but as it turns out she can hang tough in the thick of battle fairly well.
She's not replacing Fiona in my book, but she -is- fun.
I can't really gauge her combo abilities yet, I don't remember if I could kill spiders with a combo at that lvl on Fiona...

I'm doing better with her so far than with fiona. It's nice not getting your combos broken when some retard archer shoots you.
Haven't lost any HP yet so far either and soloed half the first boat.

I find it easier to solo things with Evie. I guess it's just me though... Everything seems hella easier with her. I was in a party of Evies running Decisive Battle and we all finished close to the timer but without taking much damage, and nobody died. It's really fun playing as her and I'm pretty sure scythe is gonna be awesome!

Evie is no Fiona, and she is a bit OP right now. It's entirely possible to nuke anything at this point, just do a fireball, recharge your stamina, do it again, then combo (without losing any stamina) until your fireball comes back. If there are little guys, just shoot off magic bolts until they are all dead, that thing is ridiculously spammable. Get hit? Oh well, because you have 5 shield bars before you even think about losing any HP.
I'm not seeing how anything will be a problem for her to solo, and her DPS is nearly on par with Laan if you fireball then magic missile (lol) / smash spam. This doesn't even take into account that golem she gets, or any of the scythe skills.

Enjoying evie so far =D
yea it really is just depending if it suits your playing style..
I for one really enjoyed teaming up with a team of fiona and lanns, healing them and spamming fireballs and magic arrows when I can..
I rarely do melee just cuz I feel like that beats the purpose of being a mage >_> but stamina uses up pretty fast so gotta compromise at times XD
This hoard of Evies will probably soon fade as some realizes it's not their style. Which would restore some balance to the teams..
Full team of clone looking evies spaming fireball at boss is amusing at first, but soon gets boring and dull.
Yea Soloing reaper might be hard, just cuz he is so fast. Gnoll Chieftan was easy as long as you know how to read it's movements.
And the heal is what I love the most :3 too bad I haven't have much chance yet to put it to good use.

The only problems/quirks I've got with Evy is the kick animation which constantly haves me jump away from the enemy. I don't remember if Fiona kicks does that but maybe I've gotten too used to fighting beside the enemy most of the time as Fiona.
Although Firebolt and MAgic bolt are great skills, as well as the eagle talon, I still miss being an obsessed neck grabber and throwing kobolds down cliffs a la "300".

Evie's amazing~
Even though she lacks melee strength, her combos are really fast and you can use Space to backstep out of harm's way.
And firebolt has super armor.
The only things I don't like are the lack of grabs and that you have to stand still to backstep.

Evie, to me, seems like she can do anything, its just her cooldowns and her frailness prevents her from being in the midst of battle.

I felt like I had a much easier time with gnoll chieftain with evie. The dodges take no stamina =D
Evie is no Fiona.
Thank you for this astute observation. I wasn't sure at first, and it confused me when I jumped back like a little girl instead of planting myself on the ground with a powerful shield. Then I got even more confused when I tried to repair my armor and this weird fireomg thing zoom killed everything on my screen. And it was pissing me off how I kept trying to use my dashing smash but just ended up glowing.

Evie (staff) advantage:
Her melee costs no stamina. In fact, you RESTORE stamina WHILE you melee. I'd say this is pretty huge.
Her melee has a very wide range. When fighting scrubs, this really comes in handy since they get hit stunned by just about any attack.
Mana Shield makes her practically invincible for simple dungeons. And it recovers really fast.
She can instantly regenerate her stamina.
She can heal in two different ways.
Her Fireball is OP like mad, cool-down is the only thing balancing it.
Her Magic Arrow is also OP as long as you have the stamina for it. Mass spammable, most enemies don't stand a chance.
Backstep dodge is actually very nifty. Possibly faster than Fiona's roll dodge.
Evie (staff) disadvantage:
Her melee damage is poor.
Cloth armor, will get real troublesome late game when things can actually start eating at your mana shield.
Side step dodging is terrible. And backstep doesn't cover enough distance sometimes.
Her spells require a quick slot, leaving you with little room for items.
No Grappling moves (which tends to come in handy time to time).
Kick type move is the same as a 1Smash animation, which is slow as hell.
To be honest, all the disadvantages don't matter until around boat 3+, which is why she feels very OP right now. Especially in Perilous Ruins, she's more or less invincible.

I melee more fiercely with my evie than my fionna. And I haven't lost any HP yet.
When we get scythe she's gonna be even stronger with the way I play her.

Do you know how unfair Evie is?
I've solo'd up till boat 3 on hard.
I didn't lose a single point of HP, I didn't use any items at all.
If this doesn't screams OP, I don't know what does. Even as a Fiona, I'm still required to use stuffs like repair kits and etc. for my shield, bar the rare potion or two to prevent my character from dying because of my mistakes (i.e. Mis-shields, I'm just too used to the Monster Hunter style of shielding and being able to change your shield direction and/ or move with the shield on and continue to shield till I actually run out of stamina).
All in all, it was so boring, I decided to take a break and get me some Halloween TF2 hats.
While it was easy not to lose hp, I really felt like I was doing next to no damage...It's also going to be a lot harder when bosses are more mobile like the vampires.

Evie is pretty terrible at damage. I believe the reason we're finding it so easy is that the bosses are really predictable at this point and we've ran them countless times before Evie came out. It just boils down to waiting for an opening, spamming Firebolt, and running away. I'd like someone to try and beat blood prince in 15 minutes with an Evie though...I think her cooldown would prevent that unless Magic Mastery increases damage a ton.

You haven't really seen Evy's with high skills though. I know that mine is only E because I've been working on other skills too. A lot of the Evy's were also going to be Scythe types, so they didn't up their magic damage skills. I think it all depends on what skills you do, what titles you have and your equipment. She does seem to be a tad slower at killing things then Fiona, but she has burst damage to make up for it. :)

Evy is nice, but not really the best. Lann was the best for me Boats 1 and 2, and Fiona was best for boat 3 since I took no damage the whole time. Evy doesn't really do anything like Lann or Fiona, but is really a hybrid of both since she has Mana Shield Tank or w/e it is and she has decent burst. Her overall dps is terrible though, seeing how much Stamina each of her spells takes.

Actually it's Scythe Evie's dodge ability that's amazing... Blink that is. You can teleport to a distance (depending on rank) and not only you are invincible during the process like Lann's slip n dash but also you can teleport through monsters and objects! Remember the doors in Ainle that you had to go around and open manually? Teleport through that. See Red Tyrant about to crush you? Teleport right behind him.
Of course when she gets hit, it hurts but yea...

It might be because I'm not used to it, but I don't really like Evie's staff melee. Not because of the low damage, but it seems less controlled due to how she jumps around a lot by comparison to Fiona.
There is also the issue with no scythes at the moment, I can't really try them to decide which one I like, and AP planning is becoming a chore, due to how each run lowers AP gain (even a daily run).
