Generally no, if the DC was on your end, you log in just holding it up (careful not to click the ground).
If the DC was due to a server crash (not network disconnection but an actual software crash or database error) then there's a high chance the item will be lost depending on how the server handled your item data before it exploded.

when i got back on i had rolled back and my gems were still there, but my ego hadn't rolled back any xD

but really, i want mabi back up :p

People that have lost stuff - was it only in-inventory items or items you were wearing at the time, or both?

It was items that you had moved within the time of the rollback - when the server crashes, there is usually a small rollback of a few minutes, if something was moved during that timeframe, it could be lost. (Someone told me that, not 100% positive)
