View Full Version : I'm ADDICTED to mabinogi and its character simulator. How can i stop! D:

Mabinogi is so wonderful but i feel like its ruining me. My GPA has dropped about .3 points from 4.0 to 3.7 and even so my grades usually 95%+ have dropped to 90% so the A's are just barely A's.
I'm drowning and I'm ruining my life. Mabinogi is a good game to play it actually requires a bit of thinking and tactics. But its literally ruining me.
If any of you also have this bad addiction and have fixed it. Please tell me how. I literally think about it 24/7 and the quality of all my homework has become literally from something to stare at for a couple minutes to crap that i would rather just get graded then crumple up and throw away. I'm becoming fatter too D: i gained 2 pounds so far and i feel heavy and sluggish.
So if anyone can help me please do. I'm tired of letting my parents down and letting my own expectations for my self go below the usual.

Addiction: A habit or practice that damages, jeopardizes or shortens one's life but when ceased causes trauma.
In other words not an addiction.
Well, you already think you have a problem, so whenever your doing you homework or something and you start thinking about Mabi, just think about that post pretty much, just think of what you should be doing, you obviously know what it is your supposed to be doing. Just use will power and break away from the game, or just dont play for a day or two, whenever I feel Ive been playing to much I just step back for a couple days and then I dont want to play as much afterward.
Best of luck

if you want to take initiative actions, then go rebirth your character to age 10. Without paid rebirths, you will feel tired of leveling
if that doesn't work, go start a life skill. that should tire you down

It's all about willpower.
Don't play Mabinogi, simple at that. You can do it.
Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....
Grind the crap out of a life skill or alchemy skill.
You will be SICK of Mabinogi for awhile.
I still haven't recovered from ranking Barrier Spikes to Rank 1.
And I still have to get Alchemy Mastery to Rank 9... But I feel so unmotivated these days.
Got 70 AP sitting there and I don't feel like doing anything.

This.
Just stop playing if you can't deal. Yea it's great game and all that but it isn't going anywhere at the same time. Just focus on the important things. Reality before virtual.

Age 10 RB means that you need to wait 2 and a half months for the next RB.
It's not that bad, but if you are the type who want to play once a month it might be better to RB to age 15 or 16.

I hang out with friends everyday after school and we go to a shopping center or the park to play. I'm already really fit my mile time is 6:48 at best. I've gotten gold awards at my school for both pushups and situps (25 Pushups/ 50 Situps Respectively) and Pacers (90 Pacers). My day time is already filled up. What I'm talking about is I'm staying up til 3:00 in the morning and sneaking on my laptop just to get my share of mabi that day.

I'm not sure if you're in middle school or high school, but I was referring to something more exhausting, like varsity sports practice coupled with maybe orchestra or band. If you're really occupied, you should be tired enough to sleep through that 3:00 AM time you normally play.

I do that too sometimes. (I really hate it when people call it an "addiction" or call me addicted 'cause it's not a freaking drug or anything there's no withdraw there's no compulsive whatever IT'S NOT AN ADDICTION) *ahem*
You should try and go on a break. Maybe post here or make a promise to someone you're not gonna play, until say, your GPA goes up. And I agree with what everyone else says, get a hobby, start playing a sport (you'll need the exercise ;D), set some goals and yeah, I could go on all day.
It might also be that you have a compulsive nature (like moi) so you might just have to shift your interests and start obsessing over something else. It's a bit of a cheap way out, but it can help.

I got grounded for a month and had less urge to play Mabinogi. Just force yourself into taking really long breaks and you will feel less controlled by it.

I have this problem with gaming in general, I'm just too weak to balance my time correctly between games and school so if I notice my schoolwork slipping I simply take a very long extended break from gaming in general or until my studies are back in order.

I wish it was that easy x.x I'm in middle school BTW I'm in orchestra and i do TKD sparring. I'm also on a competitive Class 3 soccer team.
Set limits for yourself, like a cap on levels. Also set goals. You'll spend less time online if you know what it is you want to accomplish. It wouldn't hurt to limit your playing until after your homework is finished either...do not play mabi on hw breaks, never works out.

Clearly your goals are not lofty enough. When I was in high school, varsity swim practice, orchestra, schoolwork, club management, and cello practice were enough to make me so tired and occupied that I really didn't have enough time for games. I do admit that middle school was easy. Wait until you get into high school.
