Britain Puts Unfair Law Against Digital Media

So I was going to download a torrent at piratebay, anyway the new header caught my eye and took me to this link The Digital Economy Act 2010 (http://thepiratebay.org/special/2010_uk_dea.php) apparently it lets the government disconnect your internet if you are suspected of ANY copy infringement downloads, WITHOUT warning. Obviously this is against innocent until proven guilty.

Also, the video is quite nice, what do you guys think?

I think it's ridiculous and the more people try to do this type of stuff to protect copyrights, the worst it will be for them.
They can not win, it's that simple.
The people who make the technology to enforce these laws are doing a job. The hackers who do not believe in copyright outnumber them, outskill them, and see this as a fight and have a passion for it as opposed to just being a job.

They will make media reports about people getting thrown in jail or paying huge fines for copyright infringement, but for every one of those stories several millions of people are downloading pirated content and get away with it while the story is being aired on the news.

Because in canada they just slow down your connection if they detect you using torrents, up to the point where you can't even download anymore. Even if the torrent is legit. Which is why you get a torrent client that allows you to force encryption (utorrent) and disable NAT on your firewall rules or router. Torrents go slower, but connections works 100% fine because your ISP scratches their heads not knowing what you are doing.

They pump one of these out now and then to appease the people who actually think they work. Compromise is the only feasible solution, not a war.

This is why I don't download in torrents much, except for some movies occasionally :\ Or programs that I can't just download a keygen for.

*sigh* The problem is the studios (I'm talking film and those copyright laws). The thing is, you're not "stealing/taking" money from the director or any of the creative people. Hell, you're not even taking from the studio. The investors, maybe. :P But everything in that industry is so blown up and out of proportion in terms of money spent, it's ridiculous. By the time you download your movie, the director, actors, and everyone else involved have already been paid. By the studio and its investors.

The whole system is messed up and is only asking to be taken advantage of.
