Too bad this anime was way off on the technology aspect
Video games are really portable now but we still don't have practical mechas.

Wow, Macross is that old? Anime sure look strange back then. I didn't know they had color back in the 80s. I thought it was all black/white. I don't really know since I am not that old...

Not like being an ace pilot of a gundam-type machine would mean anything in terms of piloting something in real life, lol.

Basically, a geeky guy sees a chick playing a game. He tries to impress her by beating her infront of a fairly large crowd. At first, the game is a simple game involving two mechas shooting each at each other on a 2D screen. After he beats her, they move it up to a 3D holographic version of the same game. When he still beats her, and she tries to leave, he asks her out. That's it in a nutshell.

And Cat, why is it "off" according to you? Because the holographic game is on an arcade machine instead of portable like the 3DS is going to be? If that's the case, then I call fallacy on the Jetsons, because they said that we should have flying cars that can fold up into suitcases and the human race is spread out throughout the solar system. It's the same thing, a far off possible future shows something when it was predicted more than 20 years ago, and yet it's bad because it's not how it's happening now. D:
