Don't get HP laptop's. I've only had my HP dv5 under 2 years, once sent it for repair for crappy software handling, and now the screen finally gave out.. last couple of months, the flickering of the screen intensified with everyday, and now it just doesn't even turn on anymore. Though the flickering has been happening about a year. Everyday seemed like an annoying battle of making the screen stop flickering, and eventually it just doesn't even work now.

It felt good punching the screen after it gave out though >:l

Sadly, I don't think its worth sending back since my warranty is gone, gonna try to sell it at a computer shop for parts, and use the money toward a better laptop (NOT AN HP ONE). Or a computer(ALSO NOT AN HP ONE D<).

So, for the past couple of weeks, I was barely able to play Mabinogi because of internet problems, now I can't play at cause I don't have a working laptop to play on. I beginning to think unknown forces are working against me and stopping me from playing Mabi >_>;

Anyway, what do you guys use, is it any good? What do you recommend I get? I'm more of a gaming/art student and going into architecture, so handling multiple programs is a must, everyone loves ram, the more the merrier. I've been out of date how much most laptops can hold..this all goes for computers too. Oh, and I'm at the library posting this xD..

I got one of those Dell Studio laptops that costed like 500 dollars like a year ago. I don't really have much problems, and it can run Mabinogi just fine. I am not much of a fan of those laptops that cost 1k+ or something. They probably have much better laptops now at the same price.

If it is a Desktop you want, I suggest you build it or have it customized by yourself. It is cheaper, and can make a better computer. Also, you can learn something about computers.

Since you're an art student, do you want a tablet, or do you have like a plug-in one? :o Dell laptops are decent though. You can always add more RAM if you need, and you can upgrade processors. Buying a low price computer, then upgrading can cost you some less than buying an amazing computer right off the bat... :D

Just because you had poor experience with HP doesn't mean HP sucks.

But yeah, Asus is pretty decent. And while I hate them, Dell does make pretty decent computers.

If you want more specific answers I would suggest posting some of the things you're looking for (price range, capabilities esp.); otherwise, I would suggest a laptop ~$600 CAD if you want something that will last a while, and that can multi-task well - but that's just my opinion based on what I've seen in local shops. Make sure you check reviews elsewhere before you buy anything that expensive :P
