View Full Version : Guide: Calculating Field Boss & Dungeon Respawn Times

Since I'm tired of guilds hoarding field bosses to themselves, these two items will help those smarter people out there create their own field boss charts, as well as calculations for dungeon respawn times (Maiz/Longa/Karu). You'll have to do some work to create a realistic timetable in excel (it won't be easy), but here are the "rosetta stones" that so many people have been wanting.

I have heard that boss calcs have changed since G13 so I'll upload any information I get on that later if I can confirm they did or not.

Outdated to an extent... And better formulas for each field bosses can be found on Kukutimer website although I use something else.
Edit: Here's the link for most of the things you need to know.

Thanks for the updated link. It shouldn't be too hard to cross-examine my translated files with a google translate of that page to get new methods of calculation.

Guess i can get this out of the way since.. Broad axes are already down the ****ter for worth... OK YETI
on ch 1 in tarlach (idk about other channels) it will spawn at 6 am pst will count for the day of .maint soooo when a maint happens... say monday....
if the maint even runs through 6 am pst.. it doesnt matter that spawn will be lost... next spawn will be 1 hr after the next day and so on so formula would basically what we see allot of n+1 hr so heres how it would look
Monday - 6 am pst
Tuesday - 7 am pst
Wednesday - 8 am pst
Thursday - 9 am pst
Friday - 10 am pst
Saturday - 11 am pst
Sunday -12 pm pst
Monday - 1 am pst
basically it will keep going till theres another maint and the channels spawns are reset to 6 am pst
NOTE* - this was times I knew of for ch 1 for tarlach*, and it was pre g13 IDK if it has changed but ive been to lazy to check
im not sure how the formula alters for the other channels :/

First spawn is 12 hours after the server's up, and respawns 9~12 hour interval. You can see maximum 3 per day. They all spawn at the same time on all the channel.

Thank you very much for this information sir ^^.
Interesting guide.....though, I do wish I understood how to do any of this. I'm after Maiz Prairie currently and I lost track of when it vanished last week since it poofed after I had to get off.

NA wiki is updated with up-to-date spawn locations for Maiz and Longa now. You should be able to find them with no problems now.

Unless I fail at reading Japanese, Kukutimer tells me the Giant Long Horned Gnu spawns every 10~15 hours and not every 9~12 hours.
Anyway personally I think Devcat should do away with field bosses in general. While competing for them can be kind of exhilirating I also loathe them for a couple reasons.

Mmm you could be right.
But from my experience of camping Giant Gnu for a week in KR server, I've never seen a gnu that spawned later than 12 hours. Just a coincedence? Maybe, or maybe not.
Camp them for yourselves and find out everyone!

Best prefix enchant in game(melee/range) that goes on all items.

Best prefix enchant in game(melee/range) that goes on all items.
Maybe for accessories only in terms of max damage. Oblivion is not that great for ranged, and there are much better choices for shoes, gloves, clothing, and helm for prefix when it comes to ranged.
It's basically an enchant designed for 17+ year old characters or people who will only be windmilling.
I'm saying it's not the best for range because full critical rate comes before maximum damage. Once you have a set that takes "-3% crit x n (where n is number of items you put this enchant on)" into consideration, it cuts down significant amount of your critical rate. Not to mention if you're using any +critical enchant on other pieces of equipments, you're wasting the full potential of that equipment (<- very important when you pick a gear).
For example on clothing, assuming human does not have mastered Blacksmithing:
- Extraordinary White Horse is +3 critical, and +22 max for human//+26 max for elves with the title
- Oblivion White Horse is +1 critical, and +25 max for human//+29 max for elves with the title
- Stage White Horse is +4 critical, +23 max for human, and for elves it's not worth it.
You will see that the Stage beats Oblivion by 3 critical, whereas losing 2 max damage. 3 Critical is 15 luck, and 2 max damage is 5 dex. Choice should be obvious.
Crash shot is nice, and you don't need high critical for this. But, Crash shot can be slower than AR if you miss even once. You will see how AR is faster than Crash Shot in a lot of situations and that Crash Shot WILL miss, and it takes too long to aim unless you're in point-blank range.
I can provide videos to prove my point, but I'll leave it at that for now since it's a bit off topic.

In terms of average damage, it's also not worth it over Precise accessories (not taking criticals into account)... I'd say at best you could use oblivion in greaves if you already have 130% crit+ with a HLB (while still keeping a perfect roll Oasis in the bank when the extra critical is needed).
Like you said, there are better prefixes for just about anyone who is not a 17+ year old Windmiller.

He assumes the Human does not have the Blacksmith/Tailoring title for that example, but it is also assumed that an elf would have the Final Shot Master title (+30 DEX).
I don't think they spawn at the same time.
The first spawn after server comes up is the same on all chs, after that they vary.

Even in the case of a windmiller on accs, Stout could be argued as better cause of the min damage gained from str. 2 max loss compared to 6 min gain... it's only .4 less damage average, and that extra min helps for guaranteed windmill damage. And even windmillers can still smash occasionally, so the extra crit never hurts.
But personally I still think it'd be cool to build a set with them just to see the numbers... o3o

From what I can tell (unless they also changed on G13) they all have a constant respawn timer, so they should be easy to figure out if you camp it for a day.

My field bosses.
Not anymore!! :P. Also, Gnu appears to be on a fixed timer. Appear at 4:57pm today EST on mari server ch1. The only evidence I have of this is I saw like 5-6 people within 10 seconds of it spawning at it's location.

Each channel is independent... so you have to camp each ch to get the 2nd pop in that ch.

I don't get your post...I'm sorry. :what:
Do field bosses first pop on all channels? Or does the first pop happen on a (seemingly) randomly chosen one?
If it's not on all channels, then how do you know which channel it will be on? If no one knows, I'm assuming everyone just CC's during the second pops calculated spawn time?
I hope someone understands me! :T_T:

As with everyone, I'm having a bit of trouble with exactly what channel some of the "lesser" field bosses spawn.
For example, I'm looking for Neid, and I see that the 2ndPOP interval is 30 hours, but what's with the "conditions"? It seems like it's saying the time interval is 30 hours for both when the time is less than 12:00:00 and greater than 12:00:00.
So basically, if the last Neid Spawn was 23 hours ago, I should expect another spawn in 7 hours, but on what channel? Is there a definite pattern?
Oh, and this is for Tarlach if that helps =x
EDIT: So I did a rough calculation, and I concluded that Neid will spawn about 11 hours from now, ignoring what channel it can spawn, using Yukitsuki, and the 30 hour interval. Am I correct with this assumption?

I really have no clue; you could try sending Yuki a PM on MM. He/She knows the calcs to everything since a side project of MabiMessage is a field boss timer.

No.
What it means is if the interval is less than 12 hrs, you add 30hrs to that interval to get the next spawn time. So if the first spawn is 4hrs after maint, then the second will be 34 hrs after first spawn.
But, if the interval is greater than 12 hrs, but less than 30hrs... it just becomes 30hrs. So if the first spawn is 14 hrs after maint, the second will be 30hrs after that.
To clarify more specifically, this line:
* But Now IntervalTime <12:00:00 Now IntervalTime + = In the case of 30 hours (condition 1)
"+ =" is an operator indicating you add the time. In this case you add 30hrs.

Thank you for clearing that up x3

Thank you for clearing that up x3

Each ch is independent... So you have to calculate it for each one. So basically, go camp one ch right after maint til it spawns, and then you have the interval.
