The anime and manga are different. A lot of parts are the same but a lot are different. From what I can remember, theres a huge change in story after Maka kills whats her name, the Spider Witch, Medusa's sister. Kishin never appears, at least not when I've read.

Personally, I started the manga back at chapter 1 just because. The anime started to deviate at some point, but I don't really recall when.

Technically speaking, the anime ended at Chapter 60 or something, but what happens during the last story arc of the anime is very different from the story arc it was based on in the manga, and had different endings.

It had good reason though. If it did it the same way as the manga, it would've ended on another start of a story arc. The anime did the story arc rather well anyway.
