The cat got a lot of good recommendations from the last thread

So let's make another one on guru

If you're going to recommend a book,
please put the title, author and your description of the book

The cat's Recommendation

Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay

The main protagonist, Dexter, is a crime lab investigator. However, he is also a serial killer who kills criminals (like death note except that he kills with physical weapons). Dexter kills and cleans, leaving no blood behind. His father, a detective, notices his temptation and talent at killing from reports of missing pets. He began teaching him how to kill without leaving a trace. Currently, he works with his sister, Deborah, who is a police officer. With his killer sense, he was able to help her with investigations. However, he found himself interested with one serial killer who kills only hookers. He is forced to decide between his sister or the obsession over this new serial killer

World War Z by Max Brooks
A global depiction of what if a large zombie outbreak happened. Very interesting as you see stories of survivors.

Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks
A fun book to read if you like realistic zombies.

My Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
A sad story of a 14 year old girl raped and killed by a neighbor. She watches over life without her in her own personal heaven. She sees how the killer evades the police and her family falling apart.

The Cat likes zombies and death :!!:.

I recommend.. I haven't been reading lately ._.

But the House of Night series is pretty good, even though the quality of the books being released is deteriorating.

It's about vampires, but not sparkly ones or really cheesy ones.
The protagonist's name is Zoey, and she's been Marked, which is basically changed into a vamp, and has to go to a vamp school, but all sorts of things happen to her, which was supposedly willed by their Goddess, Nyx.

It sounds bad when it's summarized, but it's a good read. Just don't read the new books, they kinda suck.\

Bored me. For a "I'm dead" type of book, The Five People You Meet in Heaven (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Five_People_You_Meet_in_Heaven) is a better read.

There is a much stronger message AND a better plot.

Okay, the cat will consider that.

Anyways the cat read Atlas Shrugged a while back.
It took the cat a lot of effort to finish it ASAP or else the momentum will stop.
The cat likes the idea behind it but not sure about the story

Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead are both BEASTLY texts... hard to read. Really enjoyed Anthem and We the People though.

Hrm,
Kitae should read Dewey the Library Cat
It's about this cat who was raised by a library.
His life was quite interesting although the cat disapproves some things.
like sometimes the library staff fed him fast food *shudders*
but then again, the fast food forced him to drink more water which solves his digestive problems.

Anything by Dan Brown.
I've read all of his books, and each is as exciting as the last.
Just don't take his fictional conspiracies to heart.

My favorite is probably Deception Point.

Les Miserables is a good French book
Eragon series is boring

Anything that has Haruki Murakami tagged on it?
Reading some of his books was refreshing, I didn't felt attacked by walls of useless paragraphs and the flow was nice.

The only con i see is that he leaves you wanting more >_>

Song of Ice and Fire series

I'm only 1/2way through the first book (i iz a VERY slow reader), so I can't tell the plot, but it's really good. So far the plot is the internal corruption of a fantasy medieval-ish kingdom, but I know that the series is much bigger than that. Anyways, the characters are amazingly well made. The world is well made. And the author isn't afraid to kill off characters, which is a trait that will draw me into almost any book :D

...This is the only book I've bothered to read since Brisingr. So it's pretty good xD
