Greetings Forum-goers!
I'm posting this out of curiosity and wondering if perhaps anybody here would be interested in a guide for changing any and all music/sound effects in Vindictus, moreso the irritating tune that plays whenever you hit 'Start' before departing on a boat. The process involved also has the capability to allow you to change any other sound effects and/or music, such as getting rid of the annoying barking sound the puppy keeps making in Colhen.
Let me know if you'd be interested and I'll write one!
Cheers!

:XD:
Just to let you all know, the guide has been removed from the Mabination forums but if anyone is still interested I have a copy of the guide I wrote on my hard drive so I can e-mail it to you if you'd like a copy.
Just to update you all regarding this; Sadly with all the patches, and the new season 2 updates, the method for changing the files is no longer valid and will cause the game to NEVER start up without putting the old files back/re-patching the client. Sorry folks! Here's hoping I can find another way..........

I believe there is for changing certain BGMS that are present in the actual 'sound' program folder but I haven't been able to find one for changing music / sound effects present in the .hfs files etc. most specifically the battle start song as you launch a boat.
If there is a guide already present then I do apologise for this post :P

It's too bad the boat departure bgm is one of the few that can't be -easily- changed =P

If you made this...
...My gratitude would be infinite.
(As an addendum, I should note that I did in fact briefly change some BGM's however I didn't want to mess around too much at the time.)

It's very easy to change ALL of the BGM's in the game with the sole exception of the boat start music.
The BGM's are contained in the "[Install Path]\Vindictus\en-US\sound\bgm" directory, and can easily be replaced.
The boat start music, however, is not located in that directory (and no, it's not "bgm_quest_start.mp3", which for some reason is exactly the same as "bgm_quest_success.mp3"). The boat start music is actually located in the "[Install Path]\Vindictus\en-US\hfs" folder, in an HFS container file titled "232B03472C8C5B5883D9A88A5BDB766BDFEF5328.hfs", and is a file called "ui_start_sail.mp3". Prior to one of the more recent patches, it was possible to open up the HFS file and swap that music file for something else. However, now these HFS container files are encoded, compressed, and locked, such that you cannot edit any of the files within. As such, it's impossible (at least as far as I know) to edit the boat start music.
Besides, as far as I can tell, doing so is against the Terms of Service, and doing so will likely get you banned if you're found out. So I don't endorse trying. Even editing the BGM files is probably against the TOS, though it's an innocent enough move that I don't think the popo will crack down on you if you do it. Then again, this IS Nexon we're talking about here...

Thanks for stealing my thunder there FluffyBear :'[
But just to clarify it is still possible to view and change the contents of any and all of these HFS files using the right tools.
Even after the new Ep.5 patch I was able to change the ui_start_sail.mp3 file.
I'm going to put this guide together anyway for the people who are interested and you can also see that it still works FluffyBear.
