that is the message i get every time i try to log in i dont know whats going on. i tried everything that usually works but to no avail. please help

Last resort is to reinstall mabinogi if nothing else works. but i suggest downloading the new patch directly from the website. if it is there that is

If you're launching manually, that might be it. I patched my client, but I'm still getting the message, and I can't launch from the website because it tries to get me to download the client. I'm (sadly) reinstalling right now.

Alternative to reinstal is manual patch. Download that.
With something like 7zip extract the .exe to a separate folder somewhere.
Copy all the stuff from the folder and overwrite everything in the mabi folder.

If you mod your .pack files there won't be any issues. If you mod .dll it's a different matter. I have to do this since the launcher on my laptop crashes if I open it, so I can't patch, and the manual patch crashes if I just run the .exe.
