Something interesting about the differences in basic/int/adv/hm/elite. Credits to profesorcirno

Basic Mode:

Just another observation, Elite's exp to hp ratio is horrible compared to hard mode. 7/8 in hard vs 12/16 in elite. If its not a mission with godly drops like vast or dexterity, might be better off just doing hardmode.

But did you solo it, that is the question.
Or will it blend, both are acceptable.

Maybe HM would be better for noobs, but otherwise, no.

The difference is that strong players can still OHKO Elite mobs, meaning Elite is better. It's common progression in most games for the difficulty to increase noticeable faster than the profit.
The amount of gold drops is also much better in Elite, as well as most having unique enchants, and higher rates for rare rewards. The clear bonus also isn't counted in those comparisons.
Basically the only reason you wouldn't want to do Elite is that you can't handle it. Period.

The other reason you wouldn't want to do an elite mission is if it is

because 16k exp reward for an elite mission alone should warn you how easymode this thing is. The rewards are utter crap. And it is still only as hard as ciar/normal or so.

I'm sorry but you were clearly doing it wrong, the time's i've ran elite sulfur spider i ran with 2-3 crash shotters and the rest wming with 1 golem user we cleared the whole thing deathless more than once. (not to sound like a jackass) but if you know what you are doing elites are pretty easy. Regardless of higher hp defence protection and higher damage.

Every monster in Defeat The Shadow Wizard Elite has 10k+ hp, I've never seen anybody hit that high against 60+ def 30%+ prot.

Yes, there's a lot of bsers there. I have 366 max melee attack with dual wield and I don't always 1 hit ko even adv monsters unless I crit. It's highly doubtful people can 1 hit ko hard mode or elite mobs without critting. Even snow golem with 777 max att non crit windmill DOES NOT 1 hit ko hard mode gold bone fighters.

That depends on the mob. Crit snow golem mills kill almost everything but shadow wizards, shadow/bone fighters, and red sulfur spiders. Most weaker things such as lancers, archers, ghost of partholons, python shamams die in 1 crit hit.

I ran Fomor Attack Elite with 4 level 1.1-1.3ks and a 500ish who had mediocre at best golems.
If not for multiple DCs we were pretty much storming through the mission.
Granted, Tara SMs are easier in general than Taill, because of less prot/def.

It seems to me Taillteann missions are Defensive, Tara is Offensive.
And not just because Taillteann has Taillteann Defense

That's why he doesnt run Swiz elite.
Pointless mission unless it's daily. Drops nothing good at all.
And most tail mobs have beefier defenses.
Elite taill missions are generally more annoying save for like dorrens and etc.

^ Assuming all people use melee, and only use Windmill
I use Smash and Hailstorm, and the only mobs that survives my crits are the Shadow Wizards and center Sulfur Spiders. With both skills I have over 140% Crit Rate, so critical frequency is no problem.
Looking at their stats is one thing, comparing the speed at which you clear the mission is a more accurate example.
The Exp ratio is 172% for Elite compared to Hardmode, and it doesn't take 1.72x as long to clear Elite. So even without the higher exp/gold Clear Bonus, Elite is still better.

I only mentioned that mission because it has every type of Taillteann mob, they also appear in other missions.
