Black★Rock Shooter tells of the narrator's despair and hopelessness as they wander aimlessly, searching for something important to them that they presumably lost. Eventually the narrator gains new hope and decides to move on into the future with courage. The video for the song of the same name became massively popular, featuring Black★Rock Shooter traveling through a bleak city and countryside, riding a motorbike and wielding weapons. Black★Rock Shooter is an original character design by Huke, and happens to resemble Vocaloid Miku Hatsune.

The famous 3DPV by Anomaro-P gave Black★Rock Shooter a plotline and backstory, which involves her sister betraying her and turning evil and Black★Rock Shooter being forced to kill her sister to stop the destruction. This plot eventually became the inspiration for the upcoming 2010 anime.

Pretty much the only anime I've been waiting for, for a while. Somewhat disappointed its only going to be an OVA but I guess it's alright.

Wasn't on the Summer 2010 pic, maybe later, but air date should be Jul 24, 2010, unless they push it back... again.

I have my own creating GIFs tutorial (http://vinhthehero.blogspot.com/2010/03/creating-gif-images-out-of-avi-videos.html), but I never thought of using VirtualDub. I should try that.

If you had the ISO, you could have mounted it to your computer using Daemon Tools (http://www.disk-tools.com/download/daemon). It emulates a DVD drive. Mostly used for installing pirated games and whatnot. However, I might grab the ISO and burn a DVD copy to show to other people. You could also have extracted the DVD contents which is what I think Paul did. Just some facts for ways it could have been used.

Anyways, the anime was okay. It had great battle scenes, but the first part was kind of boring and it switched scenes too much. I guess it was like that so it can fill in on the backstory. What I really like about the anime was the soundtrack. It had a really great soundtrack. Other than that, it was alright. It should have spent more time on Black Rock Shooter and well, there were some things unexplained. Like how did Yomi get to that place?

Quality is kinda meh to me so far (Dramatic quality drop on Mato, her face looks sorta derpish, and I don't really like how they added glasses to Deadmaster/Yomi), but I kinda expected that to happen considering the OVA would have a lot more attention put into detail than the actual series.

Edit : Oh yeah, another thing that kinda annoyed me was how over dramatic / corny they made the first ep out to be.

There isn't really any original storyline to Black Rock Shooter considering the BRS universe began mainly as artwork by huke. The OVA's storyline is mainly vague in that it doesn't clearly explain the relationship between the main characters and their other world versions (i.e. Mato and BRS, Yomi and Dead Master). Generally what happened was Yomi and Mato became good friends, and then Yomi began to grow jealous of Mato's friendship with Yuu as the two became more distant, which ended up with Dead Master manifesting from Yomi, disappearing in the real world for Mato to save her as Black Rock Shooter, or something along those lines.

The OVA was disappointing, but I think I'll give this a chance and hope.
The vocals in the original were stronger, too. Maybe they should have used Solid append, instead. This sounds too soft.

Just in case there are people who don't know/think so but the counselor must be Black Gold Saw. At least, it leans more and more in that direction. In the "dream" world she's the one creating these dolls that look like they could end up being someone's alter-ego. Certainly parallels real life with the way she's starting to manipulate people.

I don't think the "real" cause is erased though. It's more like the Paranoia Agent solution, where there's an easy but incorrect way out.

that song for bRS was just an insert song with miku being the 'artist' singer for the song. its strange to say it should only be a vocaloid like vocaloid owns the song. the song was for the art piece and the art piece evovled on its own.

teh story isn't that much diff, its diff because they focus on the other characters that didn't have much depth and it was Only ONE single OVA. they can't explain everything about all the characters and their own struggles in one movie length.

The show is so much deeper because its about how BRS also has to save herself while saving others and its not just about violence. People who think its just a show about senseless violence are just ignorant and can never understand the point of the show because they obviously weren't paying attention to it.

Also tihs series was 8 eps long, we have more insight on dead master's alter ego and strength/yuu as well as the new character chariot and her alter ego.

the reason why people in BRS 's world dont rly TALK is kinda explained in the show if you also pay attention till the end.

Plus its more 'corny' because they're exaggerating the feelings of pain and suffering as well as the feelings and emotions we get from them, esp for middle schoolers (who for some reason talk about pretty mature stuff despite their age in japan)

BRS tv and the ova have their own good and bad, but TV is an extended story of OVA. OVA was just about two girls. the TV is more about the BRS world and how the real and other world are connected as well as how the people in the other world as well as real world react and interact with each other and how both are related.
