A young football star in the UK was murdered after his pregnant girlfriend set a trap in which two thugs savagely beat him while she watched.
Martin Hyde, 22, was relentlessly bullied by his girlfriend Chelsea Pratt, 18, who enjoyed seeing him humiliated, the Daily Mail reports.
In November last year, Mr Hyde became embroiled in a petty row over $25 he owed on his rent, the Manchester Crown Court heard.
Platt lured her boyfriend into meeting his landlord's boyfriend James Dellaway, 24, and another man Jason Hughes, 28, who ambushed him and viciously bashed him for two hours at her unit in Manchester, northern England.
During the beating one of the men shouted, "I want a spade so we can watch him dig his own grave and put him in it."
The pair then marched Mr Hyde to a local park where they stamped on his face and stabbed him in the back with a knife before throwing his body into a river.
On the day Mr Hyde was murdered, his girlfriend sent a message on her Facebook page to one of the killers, saying, "Are you getting Martin 2Day X."
It came after Pratt had sent several bullying messages to Mr Hyde on the social networking site.
"My two-year-old nephew is more of a man than you," one read.
"You need to die really badly because no one likes you," another said.
Pratt, who admitted a charge of conspiracy to harm was sentenced to four years in jail.
Judge Justice Ernest Ryder condemned Platt's "haunting and casual approach to violence".
"It is almost inexplicable despicable behaviour. You did nothing to stop this orgy of violence that was occurring in front of you," the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.
Dellaway and Hughes both pleaded guilty to murder and were jailed for life.
