I went and lurked on the kr mabinogi forums the other day. I noticed that they had a subforum called "our stories". People in the subforum wrote about things that happened to them in game in the form of letters (usually player-player interactions). There were letters of thanks, proposals, "I miss you" letters, and a lot more. I had fun reading them.

Idk if this thread has been made (since I haven't been around for too long), but let's write our stories here too. I guess I should start with mine.

So, this was back in the days of OB. I told myself that I wanted to become a mage, so, I stockpiled on gold to buy the spellbooks. But instead of buying those books, I decided to take lassar's classes instead. I had just hit level 15 at that time, and the combat system was still an enigma for me.
Anyways, I had finished my last class and I was told to go kill a giant red spider. I went to the tir square to ask for help, but a lot of the people ignored me. But this one guy who was wearing a dingy colored robe (gray, if I remember correctly), offered to come help. I really wish I could remember his name, but I can't >.>

so, we ran alby and everything was ok until we reached the boss room. He decided to attack the giant spider while I went to attack a red spider. He died. I went to resurrect him, but I accidentally clicked on the giant spider before I loaded the feather in my haste... And because I kept getting attacked while loading my magic, I wasn't able to attack it. So I ran towards the other rooms, hoping it would drop aggro. Well, it didn't. But luckily, it got stuck, so I was able to spam IB until it died. When I went back to the boss room, he was gone. He probably left the dungeon because he got tired of me... I knew I couldn't finish the red spiders, so I left the dungeon too. I finished my quest, got LB, and the title, but I never got a chance to thank and apologize to that person...

If that person still plays, and if that person recognizes/ remembers me, I hope to apologize and thank him next time!

Sounds good. I guess those KR players have some fun writing. About your story: I don't remember having to kill the spider for LB....But I guess the other guy could have dc'd. You never know. ^^

Here's a story for the thread;

I was playing a browser game for quite a long time and one of my friends told me about Mabinogi. S/he played in the CN version and was ~Lv2000. I was fascinated by the way s/he described it, so I gave it a try. The first time I logged in, I didn't know what to do so I just went and killed foxes, moved on to wolves, reached level 10 and then logged off. It was pretty boring if that was all there was to it.

Later on another friend who had played it at the same time as me told me he was level 14 or so already. In order to beat him in a duel, I came back to the game and started reading the ingame conversations and books. I loved it all!

My interest for Mabinogi went up after I learned about "Classes" at school. I wasn't fond of school at that time, but I gave it a try. Lassar taught me lots of things about Icebolt the first time I went there. After each class, she gives a test about the day's lesson. The first one took me by surprise, it made me pay more attention though. ^^

After getting to leve 20 or so, I met my first ingame friends. We ran Ciar normal in order to make money, heh. During the Eweca moon event, we would kill hundreds of wolves and sell the moons that dropped for 1000g each.

Those were good times. I still missed my friends from back then. If you guys see this, even if you don't remember me anymore, come back and let's chill in Ciar or something. ^-^

I remember those tests! I remember spacing out while lassar explained something so I was taken back when she asked me something...
You didn't have to kill anything? Huh. Maybe the spider was for something else o.o That happened a long time ago, so my memory is fuzzy.

I wasn't pretty much into the game at all at first, but during the days of when G3 had came out, I finally joined Mabinogi because of a recommendation from a friend, who was like level 300 or so.

Sum Ciar.

All I did was train Smash though, since it apparently became my main skill later. It was kinda funny at first, but I found it annoying that the Golden Spider you had to Counterattack in Alby would always take damage of 1..And I practically killed it doing all 1's on it at the beginning, but learned to Counterattack in the end.
It took such a while though, and I remember how I relied on Auto Combat for everything.

Later on that day, I went to Ciar Normal with a party of 8, and went through the dungeon quite easily. Throughout the dungeon, I thought Goblins really hit hard when you had low HP, so we all practically needed heals from each other.
I remember yelling at people wrecking my combos with their auto attack and continuous attacking it, instead of using skills in place of normal attacks. (lol.)

At the end where the boss was, everyone had no clue how to fight the Golem for the first time, and we are practically kinda ran through the dungeon with the Golem chasing us. The Metal Skeletons were easy, since people killed them first.
The Golem was an issue, since everyone practically Icebolt spammed it at first. Most people died like 10 times that run, and like half of the party ditched. Without mounts or anything, me and 2 others were dying a lot and running to the Golem to kill it everytime we died and resed back at the statue.

I totally remember the victorious feel after beating the Golem and the dungeon with not a lot of people. Was kinda funny thou, and I am still friends with one of the people in my newbie days that ran that dungeon with me. xD

The First Time doing Hunting Quests.

The first time I was doing hunting quests in the field, I didn't really care about camping penalty. At first, I was kinda just iffy about getting killed, so I usually went with a party when field hunting.

The only method of making money pretty quickly in the game was practically just getting the money from collecting fomor scrolls. I was still limited to Tir Chonaill etc, because I didn't know how to change my view and I didn't know I had to press Alt on the entrances to get out of them. I was pretty darn stupid re-logging everytime desperately though.

My friend wanted to see if I was able to get used to skills and all when I was around total 50, unaware of rebirths, etc, so I went to a field of Black Wolves.

I practically got scolded for using the same skills over and over, like Defense repeatedly on the wolves, because I couldn't kill them in one combo and all. But it wasn't much of an issue sticking to 1 hit Smash, so I was happy with my Smash and ranked it to 1 immediately.
Although, I don't know where he is in the game anymore, he doesn't seem active. It was really fun when I was getting tutored about Mabinogi and all.

I remember spending nearly 1-2 hours hunting for White Wolf Fomor Scrolls to make money, just because I got the Fishing Quest from Fishing, and I decided not to waste it.
It was a huge waste of time though, but I ended up getting a crap load of MP Pots from the drops more than White Wolf Fomor scrolls.

At 9 scrolls, I practically gave up, because I was getting pretty bored of hunting for all those scrolls for such a long period of time. So then, I practically just gave up and shoved the scrolls in my bank. I never really remembered them ever again.
I got 1 White Wolf Scroll the other day when my Ostrich had it's auto combat on and killed a wolf by accident the moment I dismounted it to help heal someone that was getting killed, befriended them after.

I never picked the scroll up. About an hour later, I remember I should've picked it up. Just a great fml moment in my newbie days, I guess. xD

The first time when using Dye Ampoules.

So, it was the first time in the game that I actually bought a Dye Ampoule, and I thought you could only get 1/5 on a color and them just go for it and you would usually get it.
I was so wrong, and ended up failing many dyes and wasting so much dye ampoules due to this. This was when dyes were only 20k-30k each in cash, so I was pretty much glad that they weren't much. Still upset that I wasted so many.

I wasted so many dye ampoules during that week.

I miss the dungeons with people back then, where Ciar Advanced was the only reliable resource of good leveling to the 50-80's. When you could just look at a Party Board and find a dungeon party, you'd instantly go there on a mount, and then you would run it with them. It was really fun back then just rushing for the spots in a party.

But I met from pretty amazing and nice people on this game thereon afterwards, because they were so nice and always ran dungeons with me whenever I asked.
I remember when the first time I did Math Advanced, I was level 500 and my friend told me I was knocking them down like flies, and then I pretty much knew I should've run some dungeons earlier than I should've at that level.

I died.

Alot.

Then I saw someone doing 42 damage barehand on foxes and he was saying I'd never get my damage that high, and now I do 112-156 barehand damage.(yes this was the main inspiration for me to get stronger)

Pre-open Beta
indent I wish I could say I remembered everybody's usernames, but these events took place so many ages ago. Back in my first day of pre-open beta, I met a group of users who shared with me an experience that I will not forget. We were in the southern fields of Tir banding together to kill grey wolves. After stopping to sit down at a campfire to recover from the wounds and HP loss, about 6 other people joined us to get the group to around ten users. We all decided to be adventurous and try to get all the way to Dunbarton.

indent Needless to say, we all freaked the fuzz out at the raccoon and fox aggros. We didn't even make it to the logging camp before all of us had died from a random raccoon attack.

indent These people were the friendliest users I have ever met, and have most likely moved on from the game, but I want to thank them so much for the funniest time I had ever had in game.

Maybe ill write some stories another time.

Most of them don't exactly have a happy ending.

I also died a lot. So much, the game decided to give my Edekai Priest Robe a Bloody prefix. Wish I still had it as a reminder of my failure--but I think I just fed it to my sword ego after awhile. /hit

Back in the day, my friends and I had god awful internet connections--as well as just sucking at the game in general. There was a point where one of those said friends just needed the 10th page for her Fireball quest--you know, back when you got that annoying as hell 2x2 quest scroll for Fireball.

So we spammed Fiodh normal to hell and back for that stupid Fiodh Int for Four pass. And when we'd finally get it? We would die horribly every step of the way, one of us would drop connection, one of us would have to leave, etc etc--or there was just that god awful moment when we'd kill all the Giant Imps and they'd drop absolutely nothing. All pain, and with all the death that ensued, no gain.

We got the pass again one day by sweeping with the Flying Star pet LOL--sadly, my friend was on a new elf alt, so she was essentially useless in our already tiresome runs through the dungeon. Of course too, she had to leave eventually, so that left us with three people left in a dungeon we could barely handle. Then our third person d/c'd. It was just me, and the friend that needed the page.

We didn't have enough feathers between us to keep on reviving our dying pets/each other, so we resorted to fighting the dungeon near naked so that if we did die, we'd stat res and runnnn allll the wayyy back on foot (due to dead mounts, yay--while my friend had no mount at all at the time) to the last room. It was taking so damn long, we sat our characters down and left the dungeon running overnight, hoping neither of us would d/c unexpectedly in the meantime LOL.

I woke up earlier than my friend, finished a few of the rooms by myself (VIA THE MAGIC OF PET REVOLVING LOL--between my like... three-four pets at the time) and when she came back, I was already at the boss room, waiting to finish together.

There was, at least, a happy ending:

It was also my wedding dowry to her, so we got married soon after, lmfao.

It's funny, I vividly remember struggling through that dungeon when I first started playing, and we didn't touch it again for a long time after our victory--so it came as a huge surprise when we all blew through it without a problem further down along the line.

D: This makes me feel sad I hardly remember anything from the good old days, I can only seem to remember the bad things.

The thing I do remember though is someone helping me when I was new, he helped me with a Part Time Job or something and rode me around. We were waiting for the time to change and he explained to me time went by fast. I joined right before mounts came out I think, and a week later I already had asked my mom for some NX. She accepted, and I got my thoroughbred! Her name is Ginger and she's so old! And then I got a doggy named Jingle, and so forth. Now I have 30 pets, and I have never spent real life money on any other game. Pets on Mabinogi is just addicting for me. x_X I guess I'd like to thank the person that helped me, but he probably doesn't remember me and I don't remember his name.
