Note: This is NOT referring to Mabinogi Composer!

Tired of Mabinogi's same old BGMs? Certain mp3s that just don't suit your interest? Need change?
If so, this Guide is right for you!

After reading this Guide, you will be able to:
♫ Listen to whatever music you want when entering anywhere in Mabinogi
♫ Omit music where you don't want it
♫ Replace ambient noises with more unique noises, or maybe even music

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - x - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

1) Go to your Nexon folder, then the Mabinogi folder in it.
As some of you are aware, there are two folders - one Mabinogi folder, and one Nexon folder with a Mabinogi folder INSIDE of it.
Note: The Mabinogi folder has content such as screenshots. The Mabinogi folder inside the Nexon folder has content such as HShield and movie.

2) Go to the mp3 folder.
From here, you will find a long list of all the BGMs, including NPC music.

3) In another browser, find the music desired.
For example, let's say you want another soundtrack for Gairech.
Look for the file in the Mabinogi mp3 folder.
And, for example, that soundtrack's name is called Sunny_Day.
You are going to right-click the desired music, aka Sunny_Day and rename it to Gairech.
You are now going to choose one of these options.

♫ Make another folder in the Mabinogi mp3 folder, and name it OST or Original Mabinogi Soundtrack.. something like that.
Drag the ORIGINAL Gairech file into the folder. Then, drag the song Sunny_Day, now renamed Gairech, into the Mabinogi mp3 folder. This takes more work, but you preserve the original soundtrack.

♫ Delete the ORIGINAL Gairech file, and drag n' drop Sunny_Day, now renamed Gariech, into the Mabinogi mp3 folder. This takes little work, and should only be done if you don't care more or less about your original music files.

4) And.. voila! Once you rename the desired song, drag n' drop it into the Mabinogi mp3 folder, and delete/move the other file, the song you want will play whenever you enter the specific region.
In the example given above, the piece Sunny_Day will now play whenever you enter Gairech.

5) And yes, it's that simple. If you want to take out music, just delete the files. If you want to change or delete ambient noises, there's a separate "ambient" folder in the Mabinogi mp3 file that you can alter every which way.

6) People who have changed their mp3 files have reported Hackshield error codes popping up whenever there is a new patch/update. No need to worry about this, though; if you get the error code, all you need to do is go to:

Nexon > Mabinogi > HShield > Update > autoup

The client should work fine after you do this. If it still doesn't work (though it should), take out all your custom mp3 files and put the original ones back in. This is another good reason why you should keep the originals - just in case something happens.
Then again, you don't have to!

I hope this Guide helped, in one way or another :)

Can we still change music if we downloaded the internet browser version?
If so then how? :O

You mean weblaunching the game? The mabinogi folder is still in the same place, and you can still do everything you can to the folder as normal.
Weblaunch i think just makes it so you can launch the game from the website, then the website goes and starts the client on your computer and runs mabi as it would normaly.

And nice guide, though its pretty much widely know to most people that you can change the bgm, i think there was a guide somewhere about it before too.

Hey, I have Windows 7, so some of the places you're referring to in your post seem to be either widespread, hidden, or nonexistent. I'm not sure if you're familiar or not with the differences Windows 7 has with its predecessors in that respect, so I was wondering where I would find the Nexon folder? I've noticed that my version of windows saved Mabinogi in Computer > C: > Users > My Name > My Documents, and I can't find this other Nexon folder anywhere. I'd like to be able to access these music files but don't know where they are. :P Can anyone help?

The Mabinogi folder that you're referring to in "My Documents" is where personal settings and Screenshots are stored. The Nexon folder he's referring to is usually in your C drive or the drive you piked for it. If you're playing EU Mabi then it'll be in the "Program files" folder.

Indeed, there it is! Thanks; I don't know why I didn't think of that before. xD

I replaced some of the more boring boss themes with Shadow of the Collossus music. Sounds great. :D

I'm looking through the mp3 files now, which one is the Tir Chonaill Graveyard theme?

Go through them and listen.
You can't really expect everyone to do everything for you.

Yes, I was doing that, but I figured it might save me some time if someone else knew the title of it.

Lol... I believe this was basic knowledge as one started Mabinogi...

If you know what Touhounogi is, it's basically the same thing

Nonetheless, it's good that there was one person who stepped up to the plate and told people who didn't know about it
