View Full Version : [Pokemon] What are you pokemon's Team combos?(Single/Double battles)
Tropa

My Team:
-Empoleon
-Vaporeon
-Swampert
-Samurott
-Matagross
-Carracosta
Combo 1(Double battles)
-Since the move Surf hits all pokemon in the field, even your secondary pokemon. But with Vaporeon's Water Absorb surf can become spammable and it'd help keep Vaporeon alive.
Combo 2(Mostly Single battles)
-Carracosta is Slow which makes a Big disadvantage in most battles, but this can be fixed with Bulldoze(If your facing a Flying type pokemon or a Pokemon with Levitate use Smack down)
Combo 3(Double Battles)
-Have Metagross use Magnet Rise then your free to use Earthquake for the next 5 turns.
Post your Combos and strats!

I love the steel types.
-Scizor
-Metagross
-Steelix
-Magneton
-Gliscor
-Weavile
Double Battles
-I usually like to have Steelix and Magneton, since Magneton has levitate and can dodge Steelix's earthquake.
Single Battles
-Gliscor with Sand Veil ability and Sandstorm is always good. Scizor I usually either start off with Double Team spamming or Iron Defense, or both. Then I'll use Fury Cutter, X-Scissor, Metal Claw, whichever works best.

My team is usually a mixed variety and I haven't played pokeomon black for a while so I don't think I remember my team but here goes.
-Steelix
-Chandulure
-Bravery
-Swampert
-Metatank
-Alakazam
I do have specific type teams but I rarely use them.

I love the steel types.
gg
Fighting and Fire attacks so common throughout game even for non-fighting/fire pokemons.
Alternatively I love normal types. Chansey, Snorlax, Porygon Z, Togekiss etc. Holding a whole team of them would be pretty bad, but turns out three of them make an amazing team in triple battles if they're all taught Round.

Eh, I take on the Ash mentality and don't concern myself with types throughout the game, and battle how I feel. I believe in my pokemon and they believe in me! :awesome:

I basically just use whatever pokémon has a type advantage. :/

For Spiritomb on my team, I use Hypnosis until it lands, then use Nightmare, then spam Dream Eater, which heals any HP I lost while trying to get the enemy to sleep.
For Golurk, I use dynamicpunch, it can't miss due to Golurk's ability, has high damage, and always confuses the enemy.

It might not be good to use hypnosis dream eater combo anymore. And in metagame you can only afflict one sleep at once anyways which absolutely ruins builds that primarily focus on status affliction.
Spiritomb is a pretty nice tank still, giving it leftovers and a sleep talk build might actually be more efficient.
Calm Mind for opening or switches
Dark Pulse
Rest
Sleep Talk
And as awesome as golurk is, I don't think I could ever use him considered how squishy and slow he is. I think I never once had a match where golurk could actually get a hit off.
5 weaknesses with 55 base speed is sad.
Golurk's ability doesn't make it so he can't miss. It just increases punching damage by 20%. Also because he's ground/ghost, he doesn't get STAB damage out of it, so both Earthquake and Shadow Punch will be far better for attack options.
Since he has so many weaknesses and horrible speed you're probably better off giving him a focus sash. Or a Zoom lens and actually go for Dynamic Punch, and hope you're not dead on the first hit.

Why would I give out my strategies to possible opponents? no.

Who needs strategy? Just get a party of 6 Pokemon that knows Metronome. 3 Togekiss and 3 Snorlax, all of them with Metronome pumped up with PP Up to get 16PP for the moves. If you need physical offense, hope that Snorlax calls a physical attack with Metronome, and like wise with Togekiss. So much more fun overall compared to actually planning strategies/training your Pokemon.

I used to use Swampert/Charizard as my main team to get through the singleplayer portions of the games. In double battles, EQ with Swampert (missed Charizard as he's flying) and throw out any move on my Charizard. I also used Muddy Water, which was weird back in D/P and didn't hit your other Pokemon.
I didn't really have any good tactics with my Eevee team, as I stopped playing soon after I finished it.

Golurk's hidden ability is No Guard.

Golurk's hidden ability is No Guard.
I see.
But without stab bonus you're still better off using Earthquake.
But I suppose having a fighting move is fine then.
- Annoying Milotic with Aqua Ring and Leftovers.
- Feraligatr with Ice Punch, Fire Punch, Thunder Punch, and Crunch. The elemental punches make practically able to stand most types if it manages to one-hit or close to one hit.
- Spamming Vaporeon's Acid Armor, keeping it with Aqua Ring and Leftovers.
- Using Heracross's Endure, let it lower down to 1 Hp and then murder with Reversal.
- Honchkrow with Nasty Plot combined with the ability of Super Luck, raising chance of critical hits, and then murder with it's moves. :x
- Wide Lens item with Glaceon, raising the accuracy of Blizzard.
- Remember that level 1 Rattata with the Focus Sash? Full team. Focus Sash > 1 HP > Quick Attack. Yeah.

I like using Wish and passing it to the rest of my teammates when battling in Singles.
Support and defense is usually my thing. Lay down hazards (i.e. Stealth Rock, Spikes), switch to a good tank (I personally love Jellicent), stall and annoy, watch your opponent go down when you bring out your main sweeper.

Game doesn't allow you to hold more than 1 of the same item, therefore this build is not viable in competitive play.
Also, everyone knows if you're encountering this build you should not attack.

My Golurk DOES have Earthquake, however. Use DynamicPunch for confusion, then use other powerful moves until confusion is lost, use DynamicPunch again, repeat.

I'm surprised to hear a Golurk can take more than 2 hits before fainting.
My Golurk is properly EV trained and has the correct nature, but it always dies in 1 hit without sash equipped.

This is competitive battles?
A STAB attack from Surf, shadowball, giga drain, ice beam, crunch, or dark pulse (listing common attacks) should do enough damage to one shot a golurk.
The possibility of the encountered pokemon having one of these attacks is so ridiculously high.

the cat loves how kitae talks so much about competitive pokemanz
and yet doesnt play with the cat
anyways the cat needs to revise his team to fit new banlist
before Garchomp got banned
Tyranitar
-Crunch
-Stealth Rock
-Fire Blast
-Pursuit
Deoxys Speed Mode
-Superpower
-Ice beam
-thunderbolt
-psycho boost
Latios
-Draco Meteor
-Trick
-Surf
-Hidden Power Fire
Lucario
-Swords Dance
-Close Combat
-Extreme Speed
-Stone Edge
Skarmory
-whirlwind
-brave bird
-roost
-spikes
Garchomp
-outrage
-dragon claw
-earthquake
-stone edge

the item clause is stupid
just use every competitive rule except the no legendary clause and the item clause
Smart people know how to beat the F.E.A.Rattata
Oh man reading all this makes me want to play competitive battling again :X

One of my favorite double battle combo was Slaking/Regigigas + Alakazam
Alakazam takes the Truant/Slow start Ability away
But Regigigas builds are meant to stall the 5 turns,
unresisted Stab return from either these guys hurt a buttload
And of course for double battles, a rain dance team is easily usable
Not gonna get into detail...
Mix sweeping Kingdra
Vaporeon
Ludicolo
Flotzel
Gyrados
Anything weak to fire, as a wildcard

problem with pokemon
lack of balance
and the fact that speed/priority move is the most important in a pokemon's potential

you people are such pro at pokemon, i dont even know what EVs are. I tend to just pick whatever can take a lot of damage and dish it out, screw defense and using supportive moves. rush in and kill everything and hope you dont get killed in the proccess. (im not good at competitive battles).

I used to run this team before Garchomp was banned. I also had a trained Specsmence, Flinchkiss and Anger Point Tauros. It has decent synergy though it definitely wouldn't stand up to a well prepared player. Thankfully I found most people on wifi to be awful.
Kingdra @ Lum Berry
Modest ~ 120 HP / 252 SpA / 136 Spe
Swift Swim
~Ice Beam
~Surf
~Dragon Pulse
~Draco Meteor
Gliscor @ Leftovers
Impish ~ 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Sand Veil
~Earthquake
~Roost
~Ice Fang/Stone Edge
~Stealth Rock
Tyrannitar @ Life Orb
Adamant ~ 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Sand Stream
~Earthquake
~Stone Edge
~Crunch
~Dragon Dance
Cradily @ Leftovers
Careful ~ 252 HP / 4 Atk / 214 Def / 40 SpD
Suction Cups
~Recover
~Toxic
~Stockpile
~Rock Slide
Metagross @ Life Orb
Adamant ~ 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Clear Body
~Meteor Mash
~Earthquake
~Zen Headbutt
~Agility
Skarmory @ Leftovers
Impish ~ 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe

Most people I battled online have no Idea what EVs so I know most of my pokemon have the speed advantage for sure, and I have true walls to use against them.
@Kaeporo, are you using that kingdra as a lead?

thats because most serious people play Pokemon battle simulators instead of Wifi
Golurk shines in Trick Room teams. Otherwise, nahhhh.
unfortunately, many pokemon get screwed over because of their speed, lack of bulk, and/or typing
thats why there's like 50 pokemon that outclass others

Update: found an item in Pokemon black and white that inceases Spl.atk when hit by a Water type move(Absorb Bolb)
This item held by a Pokemon with Water absorb along with a Pokemon spamming Surf would make a deadly combo.
