Since Thanksgiving is coming up I want to share how my family cooks our turkey
a lot of people don't like thanksgiving turkey because it's dry and gross
that's because people don't cook it right
I love a nice juicy turkey that is packed with flavor

DO NOT BASTE YOUR TURKEY
a lot of people think basting a turkey add flavor
no, it burns the skin and have no flavor value whatsoever
it helps dry it which if you like dry turkey, go right ahead

cook at 500 degrees in the oven for 30 minutes
take tinfoil and shape it into a triangle shape and cover the BREAST ONLY (this allows it to cook slower so you can cook the dark meat without drying out the breast)

reduce to 350 and cook until the internal temp thermometer that you should have stuck in the turkey is at about 160

let it rest for about 10-15minutes for the moisture to lock in and then carve it and eat

so yummy :full:

I'll have to have chicken instead because I can't afford to get me a chicken and eat it all by myself.

In fact, I might not celebrate thanksgiving at all.

That was really off topic in a salsa thread... so I split it to your own thread for you.
