Speaking of the advertisements, I keep clicking that "donate to make these go away" button and it just sends me back to the main page. >l

You guys do know what recaptcha is, right?

Everytime we solve one, we're actually decoding old prints into digital books. Its an absolutely genius method of accomplishing two things at once.

1. Preventing bots and spam for accessing sites
2. Having the mass do work for you by taking scanned images from print and turning them into digital copies

Sometimes, minor errors pass through because the recaptcha system itself doesn't know what it really says. Thats up for all the users to figure out, and as we fill them out recaptcha takes the data and compiles a large number of inputs for the same word displayed, and they take confirmation with the one that is put in the most.

So Amazon.com is shown because some text document out there had the words Amazon.com in it, recaptcha scanned it, got placed into the software as an image, and we're writing down what it says for them.

Hence their logo "stop spam, read books"

I'm great at pulling **** out of my ass thanks to my years of experience at writing B+ grade papers at the last hour, but no. I'm very serious.

You can always look it up if you're skeptical.

A bit of Skepticism is healthy!

But even if that weren't true, it's still fun to read. xD
