View Full Version : [Elder Scrolls] Aedra vs. Daedra
The two favorite daedric prince threads got me thinking about some of the dialogue you get both with daedric worshipers and the princes themselves. A recurring theme is that they always go back and criticize the aedra, and the main complaint is always that they don't do anything.
So what are your opinions?
For those of you who don't know, the Aedra are the divines, minus Talos.
There are also minor aedra just like there are minor daedra, but I don't think they've ever been featured.

I think I'm more drawn to Daedra because I haven't done much involving the Aedra. There are also interesting characters like Clavicus Vile and his dog.

neither really
both of them have really small presence in skyrim
and the daedra are just trolling people
More powerful? Daedra, definetly.
Aedras and Daedras are both divine beings of similar characteristics, the difference is that Aedras took part in the creation of Mundus, Daedras did not, for this they retained all of their power.

Daedra definitely, and not all of them are evil either.
Somewhat related: The voice actor for Molag Bal makes me quiver.
In a good way.

I'm so behind in Skyrim, I have no idea what these people are. Besides the fact that I saw a Daedra heart in one of the stores, which really put me off my lunch.

After playing The Shivering Isles and doing a ton of quests for the Daedra, I'd definitely choose them. They have a ton of personality to them and are hilarious in their own unique ways, especially Sheogorath.

It's not rape if you want it.

Minus Talos? You damn imperial...
I also think that the Daedra is more powerful, as Bakuryu has stated, the Aedra took part of the creation of Mundus, which severely weakened them. They also usually don't do anything on their owns and send forth heroes to do the work for them, so they're also asshats for the most part.
However, what do you mean by stronger? Them as whole or each one of them? And stronger where? In the Daedra's realm, Mundus, Oblivion?

Yeah, I'm not sure about anyone wanting a spikey mace up their butthole.

It doesn't have to be a mace.
Probably daedra since i've done more quests for them.. though I'd like to be the god of them though, I hate being a servant! Dammit! We were all born on this land to surpass the divines >:l

like everyone I'm abit more drawn towards the daedra because we've had more interactions with them
though considering that the "avatar" of Akatosh defeated Dagon himself, makes me think Aedra could be stronger
though considering that the "avatar" of Akatosh defeated Dagon himself, makes me think Aedra could be strongerBoth Aedra and Daedra are the same race (Et'Ada), creations of Anu and Padomay (a.k.a Sithis), the two primal forces. The names Aedra and Daedra are something the Mer used to call them, Aedra means "Our Ancestors", while Daedra means "Not Our Ancestors". Like mentioned before, this is because one group agreed to help in the creation of Mundus, while the other did not.
Akatosh is probably the strongest of the Et'Ada , just that in general Daedra are stronger doesn't mean some Aedra can be stronger than some Daedra.
Preyite for example, is the weakest of all Daedra, which probably also makes him weaker than most Aedra.
When the Aedra helped in the creation of Mundus they gave up one thing of themselves, that contributed to the creation, that means one less strength, or one less power they posses.
In the book "Aedra and Daedra" found in Morrowind and Skyrim it is mentioned that they gave up immortality, so they can die, while Daedra can only be banished to Oblivion where they can regain their strengths.

doesn't that sound like it means they can't die? o-o; , lol I never got around to reading that book cause of Terraria <-<;
also in Skyrim's loading screen didn't they say that Preyite is "considered" to be the weakest? or something along those lines, never truly saying that he is
