Rant time.
Get one B?
Fail at life
Did a report that looked like **** but still got me 100/100?
Fail at life
Got a B on a single math pop quiz?
Fail at life
Don't play a sport?
Fail at life
The sports thing really pisses me off. They keep saying that not playing a sport is bad for me. Here's the thing. I despise sports. I have severe asthma. I'm **** with a ball of any kind. How can it be good for me? I wasn't born to be that one guy that does everything well. I'm not super smart like my parents expect me to be.
The last chance I have is swimming. I still don't wanna do it, but it's the last thing left. Otherwise I'll get constant death and disownership threats every day.:gloom3:
It seems like a bunch of QQ, but I'm just tired of being yelled at everyday because I'm not perfect.
What can I say, Asian parents.

I don't do these kinds of rants because I have Asian Parents that are actually reasonable other than LOLOLOLYOUGETABYOUDON'TGETINTOSTANFORDIMDISOWNINGY OUNOW. :skip:
Try running a mile a day. I do that. Gets my mom/dad off my back, even though they think I'm stupidly skinny already. Asthma might get in the way though.

If you are born a filipino, you are born to be a basketball player lol. Yeah, I feel your pain. Now that I'm an adult, I can do anything I want lmao. (17 though)

i always feel bad that i rolled the totally reasonable, if still sort of disappointed parents.
conversation went something like
mom: try not to fail, please.
me: k.

When you say swimming, are you talking about the school team or just an outside activity? If you do indeed have severe asthma, has a doctor given you an ok to do sports (don't have asthma so I don't know its implications)?

I'm starting to think this isn't entirely true for all asians anymore. I have this one friend who's such a spoiled little sh*t that he brags about all the neat sh*t his parents give him and how, "Oh, my mom stopped caring about how I did at school because I wouldn't improve." Selfish prick ruins a $2,000+ gaming computer by spilling soda over the "open vents" of it (apparently) and has his parents buy him $2,000+ worth of airsoft equipment because he wanted to try airsofting.
As for me, I've come to good terms with my parents. Whenever they want to b*tch about something to me, I take everything they say and give comical responses and they get over it with lulz. My dad's practically one of the ultimate bros right now since we both troll my mom hard. (that and they're too pissed at my useless brother to waste their breath with me.)

My parents are deeply disappointed with me too (and for a lot of the same reasons). I feel your pain.

if you are getting constant death threats from your parents it's a serious matter, they could be arrested for that......

Swimming actually improves your lung condition, consider it like an all body workout. So it improves your asthma condition, also builds muscles around your arms and legs, and abs (somewhat). Swimming is actually one of the best sports out there. .
As for my parents, they just want me to go to university. If I have bad marks, they try to motivate me to do better and support me. So my parents aren't that Asian, it's just when mom's temper flares she can be a real *****.

Join the running team (cross country/track) like what I did :D [till I took an arrow to the knee]
I hated doing any sports involving balls cause ever since I was a kid when doing ball related activities, I killed the team "literally". Also if you have the time you can go workout in a gym.
I understand you guys are calling all this "Asian Parents" situation. They just dont want their kids to follow the path of the those American kids (the ones that want to play and get everything now and have no clue what to do after Highschool)
By my experience, highschool was a joke compared to a 4-year college, and I still dont get how those slacking kids fresh out of highschool got into my school.

Also, not all Asian parents are the same, the really nice ones usually spoil their kids.

I feel ya with the sports thing. Around here, if you don't play sports, you automatically fail at life. I played some sports, but I wasn't really on any teams :/ Whenever someone asked me about it, it usually went like this:
Person: Are you in any sports?
Me: No, but I'm in orchestra.
Person: Oh :/ You should do sports. That actually teaches you something about life.
And that really made me mad. I'm sorry about your strict parents though D:

(assuming you don't hold yourself underwater until you go unconscious)
I don't blame them for pushing you
tough parents are good parents
I plan on being that tough on my kid
none of that babying ****
"be the best you can be"
**** that
"TRY HARDER. GET BETTER"

There used to be a sign when you entered into the town I live in that said something like... "Learn Life Skills through Wrestling" or something. Because wrestling apparently teaches one to cook.

Well my parents aren't too bad. Worst I get is a disappointed mother when I say that I don't want to follow the catholic religion. That sucks, I'm sure not all asian parents are like that. Depends on their upbringing I'm sure.

They were always saying something like "sports teach you about teamwork" and all this other stuff. But...orchestra teaches that stuff too, which is why I got a little mad when people said things like that. I loved orchestra and didn't want to give it up for something that I didn't care for (like sports). It just annoyed me that people assumed that "oh, it's not a sport, so it doesn't teach anything about life or character". Bull.

Oh, I'm not saying that sports don't teach it. I'm just saying that I don't like it when people think that you can only learn that if you're in sports. We learned that same stuff in orchestra, it's just that we played instruments instead of running around. And then they tell me that I need to quit orchestra and take up sports instead :/
I know that sports teach it too.
