So the tablet my mother bought me...it's complete crap. It won't even update...so she's going to return it and get her money back. She was just trying to be nice and she got taken advantage of :< At least she'll have her money back to pay bills or whatnot.

I. Hate. Lying salespeople. Especially when they try to take advantage of others.

This happened with Hanna's aunt and the macbook too, didn't it?
People should research things more before purchasing them, I guess. :<

The salesperson recommended Ithi's mom the craplet.

And didn't a salesperson recommend the macbook too...?
I mean, they both could've gone home and done a little bit of research before making a decision. Not saying they're stupid or anything, because salespeople do just want cash. But it would've prevented the hassle they both had to go through. Salespeople be schemin'.

I guess it's hard to know in advance if it's a gift, but people should always check with friends who might know more on the subject to recommend a good model, regardless of what electronics it is. Or ask on Nation, because there's a bunch of nerds on here :whoops:

my dad was looking at some electronics at best buy and one guy around my age tried selling my dad something, but because my dad's a tech geek my dad knew the guy was full of **** and embarrassed him xd;

Which tablet was it?

And I doubt the sales person is at fault here.. they tend to recommend the more expensive/popular/tested products.

The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet is a solid product (albeit a bit lacking in apps selection), and it's currently heavily discounted to $200 for the 16GB one. :3
The Kindle Fire is also sort of a tablet which people have been saying good things about, again at a $200 price point.

Anything cheaper than this will probably be some Chinese bootleg crap. D:

I was actually -extremely- tempted to pick up a BlackBerry tablet on my way home from work a few hours ago... but then I thought, sure.. it's cool, smooth, high quality stuff and all, but what would I really use it for? xP

It's not really her Mom's fault, since not everyone is tech savvy nor has the means to research it beforehand. A person should be able to trust a salesperson into recommending them something decent, since that's their 2nd job, besides earning a crap-ton of cash. (which they won't get if they recommend a crap item and it's returned, FYI; so yes, they do need to recommend good schtuff)

It's okay, Ithi.

My sister just got a new laptop today that exceeds this desktop I'm typing from. And all I got was a bunch of insults from parents. :fail3:

It's a Sylvania Android 2.2 Tablet.

Yeah, it's not my mother's fault at all. She was just trying to do something nice for me, and I guess she had read reviews that said they were good...I still feel really horrible about it. I'm just glad she's going to be getting her money back, I swear if they try to give her any crap when we go to return it later I will tear into them.

Return it, then add $60 to the price and get a Kindle Fire or something? :p

Nah, I'd rather my mother have the money back for herself. I'll just wait until the Nook or Kindle drops in price and then see if I can get one.
