Auditioning for the local junior honour band and I'm dead nervous. Last year around eight people from my school in the last grade eight class made it in, so hopefully I can get in. I just gotta practice a truck load and I'll have a fair chance.

He'd be better off watching sixth graders do improvised solos. And just today, in jazz band, some of us got small improvised solos, and I did well.

Be nervous, but not so nervous that you freak out. Be confident, but not so confident that you say to yourself, "Psh, of course i'll get in!" and you slack off.

You really live in a terrible place.

Someone beating someone up just doesn't happen here. Like, ever. And given that anyone and everyone was likely to be in band, no one was actually labeled "band kid" or "band geek".
