I'm so unhealthy for my age its shameful... :fail3:

Hopefully I can have a good start with the mountain bike I'm getting.

You can start by walking or biking places, instead of taking the bus or something down to school or get groceries or something. Every Sunday! Just get up, do a little bit of exercise! You'll feel better, too.

Just start a plan and stick to it.
You need a proper attitude, diet adjustment and of course, exercise. Just make sure to do so in a healthy manner.
You are? I'm guessing you're overweight or something, but how much exactly?
...Why would you ask anyone that kind of question? :I
Exercise is good, along with changing your diet, but don't make the common error of doing only 1 thing, or only eating 1 kind of food. A proper balance is necessary for good health.
Ehh... weird. I wish I could gain weight. I eat so much junk and I never gain weight. It's saddening.
Eating crap isn't the proper way to gain weight, gaining muscle mass is. Eat a balanced diet with protein-rich foods and work out (your entire body!).

/pat pat.
i no dat feel bro.
I eat everything on the food pyramid in large quantities but never gain a single pound. Damn that fast metabolism.
If you take public transportation that leaves you, say half a mile or 1 mile from school, that can work. When I had my license suspended (those were dark days indeed ;-; ), I took the train and walked about 2 miles to my university at the time. That's probably too much for a good workout if you're just starting, but it's just an example. :P

Just changing your daily diet could do a lot in terms of losing weight immediately. After college I stopped drinking soda consistently as well as cutting back on sweets in general, and dropped almost 10 pounds right there.
If you want to lose more weight, you'd need to star working out regularly, a combination of cardio and weight lifting would be ideal. You could also trying joining a sports team.
I make sure to run about 10 miles a week, swim a couple thousand meters, and play soccer and volleyball. Great way to stay in relatively good shape :3

Start on a gym, if you keep a regular schedule and stick to it within a few months you should see results.
Just get advise with a professional to help you define a series of work-outs, and a good diet is pretty good too. Mostly aerobics (running/biking) if you wanna lose weight fast, and calisthenics exercises (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calisthenics) to help your shape so you won't turn into a goddam pear-man.
Or, idk, get a friend to go through this with you, join sport teams, yada yada..
I work out 5/7 days a week, and honestly I feel weird when I miss a day lol. I don't know, it just helps me release stress by doing activities, and helps me concentrate.

Get a pill that slowens your metabolism for a bit.
Why solve with a pill what can be solved by exercising?
Paradise

first of all, don't do anything on blind
visit a nutritionist first, he/she will calculate your overweight grade, then calculate how much calories you need daily
then he/she will tell you wch is the best way to get those calories in a balanced way with a premade diet
or give you a food table
exercise is not made for lose weight, but make that weight be an effective weight, and not a passive weight(fat)
im short, i look skinny, but you wont believe my weight
about the diet, it will change time to time depending on your actual grade, untill you get your ideal weight, then you just need to follow a normal diet (normal calories so yo dont lose/gain weight)
if you are doing exercises, make sure you consume good amounts of water, the body can condensate 3 to 4 times the water that we normaly condensate out of our bodies
also make sure you sleep enought, make precompetitive exercises before starting an exercise session and never overwork it
and again DO NOT START A DIET AND DO NOT CONSUME ANY KIND OF PILLS WITHOUT A MEDICAL ADVICE

Because exercise doesn't slow metabolism, it speeds it up. So it's redundant to do something that makes you lose weight when you wanna gain it.
The speed of your metabolism has very little to do with your muscle mass. This is usually why underweight people are underweight, and why I've been saying that the whole time.
If your problem really is with a dangerously low amount of body fat, then a dietitian can help figure out if a simple change in diet will fix the issue, or prescribe medication.
If you're lazy and not willing to consult a health expert all at once, do things one at a time.
Going cold turkey for anything is difficult to do. Cut one thing at first, do one extra physical (and I mean physical, not just going outside and getting the mail every day) activity... and build on that.
...Why would you ask anyone that kind of question? :I

I. . .I didn't mean to come off that way. Sorry. . .I was just surprised he said he was overweight because in his pictures, he never looked overweight to me at all.

My daily dinner practically consists of microwave food and junk food now >o>
Luckily my metabolism doesn't seem like it's falling behind just yet.
But I really need to get healthier ._.
Im on planet earth & I live in America, Nyc to be exact & i haven't eaten chips out side of parties/ special occasions in about 6 years. I drink soda though.
I much rather just use my money to buy bread and make sammiches at home.
Don't like eating chocolates and I don't really like sweets.

Not even during birthday parties as a kid?
Once.
AND THIS IS WHERE OUR STORY BEGINS.
It was the year 2001...Claudia's sixth birthday party.
Little Claudia saw that her mommy was hiding orange juice (maybe hi-c?) in the fridge earlier in the week so little Claudia thought it was for the party!
Party rolls around, adults are entertaining, little birthday girl asks one of the "big kids" (one of my cousins) to please pour some orange juice.
Stupid kid poured orange soda instead.
And poor little Claudia certainly wasn't expecting that. One sip was all she needed to deduce that this was not, in fact, the orange juice she had been expecting. And since then, she has never had a drop of soda.
AND THAT IS HOW THE STORY WENT.

Give soda an honest shot. Then get hooked.
No but seriously, Root beer and/or Creme soda are probably my two favorite things to drink.
I am ashamed Claudia D:
You you should have soda on your 18th Bday :3
I don't like anything fizzy at all. :c

Don't really blame her. Grew up on soda as a kid, then I quit drinking it sometime around Halloween last year, drinking water, coffee, or tea for the most part instead. Had a small glass of soda on New Year's to celebrate (before I got into the brandy), had a very hard time drinking the stuff because my body had already forgotten what carbonation was like. Haven't had any soda since then, and I find it unlikely I'll be drinking it again, aside from that rare occasion.

Most other sodas are carbonated so that it's weird the first time, but cream soda is AMAZING. It's definitely a must-try.

I WON'T DEFILE MY BODY WITH THAT GROSS STUFF.
I like not having any cavities.
We can be "No-Soda" buddies! :P
I don't know why, but I've never been able to really handle carbonation. I guess it's saved me the unhealthiness of drinking soda and stuff.
Claudia
03-02-2012, 02:19 AM
Yeah, it irritates my stomach. That was probably the worst part. IT WASN'T HARD TO TRAUMATIZE POOR CLAUDIA.
...It still isn't.
Soda gives you cavities? o.o Ive never had one either
Hopefully, that would be because you take good care of your teeth. :P
I can drink some carbonated beverages slowly (the occasional lager beer :V ), but they usually make my tummy all bubbly afterwards. I'd rather just have juice or milk with my meals.
I don't really drink soda that often. Recently, I've started having more, but it's mostly cream sodas. I have yet to get a cavity so far, and I'm trying to get back in the habit of brushing my teeth more often. I love OJ/Apple Juice. . .but my favorite is definitely a vanilla Milkshake.
omg milkshake
Sometimes, if I have some extra cash, I'll just buy a strawberry milkshake and drink it for no reason other than wanting to drink a strawberry milkshake.
Orange juice is a favorite too, but it's kind of expensive here, so I usually drink apple.
Claudia
03-02-2012, 02:29 AM
Or water!
That's one easy way to start cutting back, I think. Just not necessarily drinking a lot of water, but substituting water for soda/juice/milk. When I think about drinking a not-apple juice box, I drink water instead.
That's something I should probably do, but don't... I drink a lot of water when I do anything physical, but on an ordinary day, I usually have only 1 glass of it.
I drink water with meals & only drink soda while im outside of my house.
I drink juice when im eating something with bread since water & bread taste horrible together.
I need to get back into drinking more water to be honest. Just kinda hard since I prefer the taste of other stuff to water.

I used to drink soda daily. And at some point, I just stopped. I'll drink it every once in a while, such as when I somehow ended up in a fast food restaurant with my friends. The same with junk foods. Mostly because when I eat, I want to get full. Not eat for the sake of eating. And you honestly can't get full off of chips unless you're going through a large bag of them or more.
My diet's better than most, but it's not spectacular either. I plan on cramming in morning runs into my life, especially now that it's warm. Mostly because I relied on state-mandatory P.E. as my source of exercise for a good deal of my life.
But yeah. Personally I don't think that seeing a dietitian or a nutritionist is really needed, but go ahead if you'd like.

What.
Muscle Mass > Fat
You gain weight, and look beautiful at the same time. Makes you feel good as well, as long as you eat healthy afterwards. Hell even eat relatively healthy things afterwards. Always best to eat a lot after working out if you under-weight. Plus you will be hungry as hell. I gained 10 lbs in 2 weeks just from going to the gym every day, switching up the routine. Going extremely hard someday's and more relaxed others. Personal Experience.
