Funny that you should mention it. It's either a hit or a miss for me.

It has to be freshly made and cold. Some people just screw up the proportions so it tastes nasty.
It's kinda like Flan, you have to do it right -.-

If you have a grocery store called "Publix" nearby where you live, they make Dulce de Tres Leches in their bakery.
It's of real good quality, I never find anything wrong with it.
