Pretty straight forward here.

What you'll need:

- saucepan
- bowl
- pair of chopsticks
- colander
- pair of wooden cooking chopsticks (the above pair should do as well)

- package of instant noodles
- soy sauce and sesame seed oil at hand
- an egg

The instant noodles for this example would be plain soy sauce flavored broth.

1. Fill up the saucepan with about 1 1/2 inches of water and set to boil on stove top. It should take about 5 minutes. Make sure you have the colander in a nearby sink and the bowl next to you on the countertop.

2. When the water is boiling, put in the instant noodles.

3. The total cooking time should be 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Make sure that every 30-40 seconds, you flip the square of noodles and make sure you don't break it up into individual strands. When both sides have become slightly soft (about 1 minute to 1 1/2 minutes in), start breaking up the square and then flip the noodles around a couple times.

4. Dump the whole thing into the colander.

5. Put 1 inch of water (preferably hot water, non tap) in the sauce pan and set it back on the stove top. Immediately put in half to three quarters of the powdered seasoning in the water and stir it a bit.

6. Return to your noodle filled colander and shower it evenly with cold water. I usually like to flip the noodles on their underside during this so they cool down faster. Shake the colander with a side to side motion to get rid of the water and then dump the noodles into your bowl.

7. By now the soup should be boiling so crack the egg into your soup and turn off the heat.

8. Add a little bit of soy sauce and sesame oil on your noodles and then mix it evenly with your chopsticks.

9. Now you've got two options; if you want your egg yolk still runny, pour the soup + egg into your bowl of noodles, if you want your yolk cooked, cover the sauce pan with the lid and wait a minute or two then pour it into your noodles.

Enjoy, the result is springy noodles with a clearer taste where the sesame oil is even with the noodles. No more soggy noodles 4 u!

Basically eggdrop soup but with instant noodles? Sounds pretty good so me.

Never used egg like that in instant noodles (Usually I just chop up a boiled egg and top the noodles with the slices).

Pretty good idea.

This just reminded me that yesterday my brother wanted to eat some instant noodles. The moment I turned my back, my brother almost set the house on fire. :L
Anyways, great guide :D~

Sounds great. That's usually how mine turns out if I add too much water (or too little water, and then need to add more to cook the noodles through). I rarely eat instant noodles, so when I do, I get a specific brand (Nongshim, "Shim Ramyun"), boil a small amount of water in a nonstick pan, then add about half the flavor packet and the noodles. When I can get the noodles to separate, I crack an egg into the pan and cook until the water is pretty much gone, swirling to get the noodles to cook through. Then I beat the egg through the noodles and it's a very rich snack/lunch.

I learned that from my sister.

Although these days, I've been eating it half-cooked. I like that crunch while it's partially soft, hate getting the timing right though.

Seems like we kinda cook ours the same way. I also like putting sausages in mines.

You don't have to have chopsticks right?
