This is the story of a very smart student called Hirama Ren who is used to always getting the top results in his school, and is the chairman of the student's council. One day, he walks past a group of bullies and asks them to leave--and because of that, they decide to teach him a lesson. They decide to beat up a couple of guys and they reported it to the teachers, blaming him.
Hirama becomes enraged by it and and so he decides to attain some power that could allow him to change the world to a world that he wanted...one without such pathetic people..the people who hides from responsibilities, look for shelter from others when in trouble, etc.
Coincidentally, his vice-chairperson called him and asked if he was fine with her inviting a hypnotist for some event at school to hype up the school population. He thought it might be THE ability that he was looking for, so he agreed to it. During the "trial" test of the hypnotist's ability, he set up some plan and later on used it to test if hypnosis was able to hypnotise people who were avoiding it. With his new found knowledge, how will Hirama use this new power to reshape the world?

This really is like Death Note, except that this is much more realistic.
Lots of clever plots and stuff in it, however there is a lack of L D:!

Honestly, I feel like it's too much of a rip-off for me to pay any mind to it. The main character even looks similar DX

That's so true xD.
Hell, this is in Shonen Sunday.
HOWEVER.

When this manga was first serialized, it was criticized by many readers as the series was similar to another manga, Death Note (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Note). This may have been due to the fact that the main character was bored of the world, and he wanted to change it, and age are both similar to Death Note's Light Yagami (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_Yagami). As the story progressed however, it became more to do with the main character utilizing hypnosis to change people for the better.[ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost%2BBrain#cite_note-2)

Wiki owo.

I didn't like death note because the main character pissed me off.

I'll try this :>

BUT L MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER.

I wasn't interested after a few episodes. His whole perspective annoyed me. And plus, he dies in the end. A friend spoiled it for me.

My friend forced me to watch Death Note and the only thing that really kept me interesting was cake and Light's laughing :D

I hate the Deathnote anime. It makes everything so over-dramatic and the ending is different from the source, too. Not in a good way. I might peek into Lost+Brain's later chapters to see if it really is different, if I'm bored.

so he wont completely kill people off?

this seems more interesting than a killing object.
