Every time I talk to someone there's always an awkward pause.

Like this is a normal conversation for me goes.

Me:Hi
Friend: Hi
Me:How are you?
Friend: x, You?
Me: yeah me too.
Me: So today so-and-so happened.
Friend: Really? questions about whatever.
Me: Answers about whatever.
Conversation ends.
Then I try to bring the conversation back to life by asking a question about my friend.
They never respond back.

Repeat every few days.

Small talk is boring. I never give a serious answer to "how are you"... if I wanna actually talk with someone, I attach a question or a statement to my greeting.
"Hey man, did you see etc?" or other examples I'm too lazy to come up with atm.
Sometimes I just cut right to the question.. but that's just me, I sorta jump into convos like they were already going haha, but that works pretty well for me.

It's also a lot easier to have a convo around interests than actually around the person. Depending on how well you know them of course... and really you could just have bad timing, or maybe it's not something they wanna discuss... if you don't get a response, just try something else later. Conversation should help you learn a person better anyway, and sometimes not getting a response tells you as much as getting one.

I can't for the love of me start conversations with typical phrases "How are you?" or blablabla, I just have no interest at all on the other person and usually tell them directly that I don't care lol.

.... which somehow, due to my assholery and being a completely direct person, we usually end up talking for hours and hours on end about nothing at all! woo~

I dunno, I just talk about whatever floats my mind. even the lack of conversation is a topic for conversation to me.


I just can't stand people who can't make commentaries/keep a conversation going, though. They either answer you with void answers that don't express their opinions on the matter or those stupid emoticons everywhere o3o, owo, XD and think its an ACTUAL answer, ha.

Since I'm mostly socially retarded (not literally or anything, although sometimes I wonder), I can't talk to anyone that I don't have anything in common with. If its someone that I can talk about stuff with like tv shows or books then I'm mostly fine, but put me in a conversation with someone who I have nothing to do with or I don't respect very much and there is an awkwardness that is hard to find elsewhere. I pretty much just go silent.

I can also carry on a conversation for long periods of time....

So don't worry even though smalltalk may fail it's not the end of the world.
