I was watching the Roast of Roseanne when an Amber Alert came on and I was pissed the entire time

I mean, if you're going to interupt my show for 2 minutes, at least fix the fucking sound.
It was nothing but the screen saying "AMBER ALERT BEEP BEEP BEEEEP"

I'm American and I don't know either. Then again I watch shows online instead of an actual TV. Fuck commercials and reruns.

I think when it happened, you were too young to remember.

Anyway, there was a 9 year old girl named who was kidnapped and murdered. In response, they passed an act in her name that included the Amber alert and the sex offender registry.

So does the alert go off when they realize a child has been kidnapped, in order to make people aware of it and if they notice anything to notify the authorities?

And when a nearby child has been kidnapped they set off an alarm on every radio station and tv channel with what the child looked like, where they were last seen and who they were last seen with. It has helped people find their children.
