Disabling Nagle's algorithm is already fairly simple to do, for those who have a hard time explaining it to friends, or those who don't want to have to go through the trouble of having to do it multiple times, there is an easier way.

First, download the TCP Optimizer. You don't have to install it, it's just an .exe file.
SpeedGuide.net :: TCP Optimizer / Downloads (http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php)
Don't worry, it's a very clean and popular program. It won't mess anything up, and if it does you can easily restore everything to Windows default.

Run it and you'll see this:

Where it says "Connection Speed," go to Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test (http://speedtest.net) and test your connection speed, then, set it to the correct Mbps (That's megabits, not megabytes.)

Next, choose "Optimal" under "Choose settings." Click "Apply changes" and reboot your PC.

After you rebooted, go under "Advanced Settings," choose "Custom" under "Choose Settings," and change "TcpAckFrequency," "TCPNoDelay" to "enabled: 1."

Reboot and BAM. Network optimized.

Easy for people who don't want to go into regedit, and also for showing your non-computer savvy friends who are afraid that they would mess up their registry settings.

Also, for those who want to comment: I didn't want to modify my own MTU because I did it once and it slowed down Youtube and Veoh video streaming considerably, so I kept it at 1500. You may lower it if you want.

Sounds nice since I attempted and possibly failed twice to disable nagle. Or I dont really notice the effects..
Either way I will wait till I see some others recommendations of this download before doing anything. If anyone using this program please be so kind as to insure its quality, please do so.

TCP Optimizer is completely safe to use, and makes a backup of your settings in case something gets messed up.

My point was to show how to disable nagle without going into the registry editor, for those who are interested.

Hm...Does game booster help at all?

Game Booster could help you with FPS (could! depends on your PC) , which has nothing to do with the benefits disabling nagle gives (reducing latency)

Just adding on, but it really helps if you have a computer with low RAM and processing speed.

Gamebooster helps Mabinogi on the hardware side, taking off other unnecessary programs and services, but it has nothing to do with networking.

One can have an ubar fast computer but bad internet, and they won't get slow FPS or freezing in Mabinogi, but they sure as hell will get stuff like elf lag, frame lag (When you smash and you keep running into the monster over and over again), charge lag, etc.

Conversely, one can have ubar fast internet but a sucky computer. In that case, well...use gamebooster since it helps.

It helps... I think it helped my graphic in Mabinogi. :3 (Not sure about speed because I use too many lag fixing programs :D)

I personally prefer to go into regedit because that's the way I learned and I refuse to learn any other way! D:< :mad2:
That way seems easier though, goodguide.

I've been wanting to try gamebooster since my computer isn't exactly the most amazing thing ever. The reason I can play Mabi is probably because I'm close to the server and my computer is good enough. I wonder if I'll notice the difference. Best place to test is Tara. 8D;

Does having an Antivirus slow down the game at all?

Yes, if it blocks the game.

Blocking the game = Unable to play = A type of lag?

^ wow... fail

anything running slows it down so yes

Anything running doesn't slow it down. It depends on your system resources, and how beast of a computer you have. A computer that can handle having Starcraft II at Max should be able to handle Notepad + Chrome without feeling lag on either.

Gamebooster helps out if you have a shizzlebiscuit comp, but doesn't make much of a difference if your RAM is over 3 GB.

Also doesn't make a difference if you already do the things it does manually. Hell, it even slows me down.

Just follow the instructions in the opening post Splat.
If it's greyed out it's because you didn't click on "Custom".

After you rebooted, go under "Advanced Settings," choose "Custom" under "Choose Settings," and change "TcpAckFrequency," "TCPNoDelay" to "enabled: 1."

TCPAckFrequency and TCPNoDelay are the settings that control the Nagle Algorithm.
