It's the freaking healing Pokemon. I assume that means it gets a ton of healing abilities, with the possibility of making it a cleric-type character. Before Pokemon didn't have much in the way of healing skills. Few Pokemon had them and even less had ones that healed other Pokemon.

Second reason is triple battles. Nuff' said.

Third is Physical (Fighter) and Special (Magic), and now healer to complete the basic circle.

Thats just my opinion. If all that happens then all it needs is Limit Breaks and ATB and it would be Final Fantasy... with Pokemon...

The only others I can think of are Milktank and Chansey, off the top of my head. And Recover only heals the user.
