Trying to escape his fate of acting like a demon, he does good deeds in order to avoid becoming one. Despite his grandfather's wish to succeed him as master of the Nurari youkai clan. He eventually comes to terms with his demon blood and decides to once again take up the position of Young head of the Nura house. Multiple factions aim to stop him or overtake his position. He plans to gather a new Hyakki Yakō under his banner of "Fear". ~Wikipedia

I think a thread was made about Nurarihyon, just can't find it. But yeah, another one of those stories about an unmotivated kid positioned to become something more important to the world, in Rikuo's case the world of the Youkai.

An anime was announced in the Weekly Shounen, if I'm not mistaken.

This manga is epic beyond all words. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to read any action/shounen. Romance/shoujo lovers should read it too. So should people who dislike manga. >=|

Well, most of the chapters have translation notes at the end that explains why so-and-so's named this because they're that type of monster. Most of the youkai featured in this series have only loose ties to their traditional counterpart (pretty much like every other manga series featuring youkai I've read...) so it's not like you really gain anything if you do know about them beforehand.

But obviously I have a slightly biased view.

Based on the one episode so far, pretty close, although they kinda jumbled the order a bit, probably as a hook. I know you'll have to deal with a whiny MC for at least a little while until the character development kicks in. I also suspect that DEEN will play up the school arcs. People think there are gonna be a lot more flashback stories that flesh out side characters, since some major VA's are playing relatively minor characters.
