New Fishing Event Unveiled!

Have you been itching to spend a few lazy afternoons casting your baited line into the waterways of Erinn? Sometimes it just takes a little motivation to put up the ol’ GONE FISHING sign for the day! Well, here’s the motivation Mabinogians have been looking for: some rare items!

Visit Petra’s boat or the shores of Port Ceann, equip a normal fishing pole and some bait purchased from any general store merchant in Erinn, and cast your line into the oceanic waters. During this special event, you have a chance to reel in items such as Cat Paw Bell Club, Dustin Silver Knight Sword, Ivory Sword, Chic Suit, and Jagged Mini Skirt.

If you want even rarer items, visit the Mabinogi Cash Shop! There, you can pick up a special Tackle Box that contains a special event fishing pole as well as 100 event fishing bait. You may restock event fishing bait as well from the Cash Shop. If you want to vastly improve your chances of getting items over fish and quest scrolls, pick up a Fishing Booster potion as well! A fishing booster potion will increase your auto-catch rate by 50% as well as reducing your chances to catch fish and quest scrolls. By using these items, you have the chance to fish up Elementary School Uniforms, Chinese Dragon Boots, Penguin Robe, Sea Bream Robe, and Shark Robe!

As expected by Nexon, this was one of the items originally buy-able from Fleta now it's a pain to get. Giants can wear them.

Well, no. I'm sad because I trained synthesis so I could make a frill dress for myself because I was too poor to afford one. And I also trained it so I could make money off of it. But if this event is the same as the other servers, pretty much the only thing that'll be left worth making is the Terra Gothic (M), since the frill dress/fitted cord/wing bow wouldn't be worth it and the dragon helm/dustin helm/most of the other things are a lot harder to make.

Plus I only recently got it to rank 7, so I haven't even had a chance to make anything good yet. ;_____; -goes to emo corner-

Haha, yeah. Well the thing is that the materials for those are kind of harder to get and more costly, so it might not be worth it to make those for profit.

I think they did. I already caught 6 bone marine helmets and 3 crabs in less than 100 baits. That's not normal.

Well, I'm not complaining about not being able to get a frill short or anything without buying NX. I just hate how they keep releasing nx event after nx event and tons and tons of rare items have dropped drastically in value because of it. I was reading the nexon forums earlier and to quote someone, "all you need is rank 1 golem summoning and Mommy's credit card to be a pro in Mabinogi".

I'm more unhappy about the fact that the game is becoming more and more orientated towards spending nx. I know that Nexon is a company and they need to make money, but this is getting ridiculous. Before, in Gs 1-4, we had nice fun events that didn't even have an nx portion. Now, it's just "YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO GET XXX RARE ITEM AND SPEND $$$ TO INCREASE THE CHANCE!". They're getting even more expensive as well. I also dislike how we're getting things such as 2x life skill training boosters and stuff. I bet in the future, they'll just release a capsule that costs $5 that will fully train one rank of your skill or something and no one will have to even try anymore for hard ranks if they have the nx... Not the mention the fact that a lot of new items and clothing keep coming out in gachapons rather than in NPC shops or drops from SMs/monsters/dungeons.

Also, I was worried synthesis training would be for nothing because Homocide said earlier that she heard from other servers that frill shorts and fitted cords were very common. Even if it requires a booster to have a good chance of getting them, well...I'm pretty sure a ton of people would still spend the nx and get a bunch, so the values will drop just like the wing bows did. =/

They could keep making events like that Santa event in 2008 where there was absolutely no nx required and rare prizes were, well, rare (or like that group collection event with Price in...2009 I think). But I suppose all they want is money now. T_T

I kind of just want to quit after all of this, but then I've spent a lot of money on this game and I still find the non-event portions fun, so I guess I'll just keep on playing...but still be unhappy about it and hope for a good non-nx event for once.

I agree with the 2x Training potions being a bad idea, but these event "advantages" aren't big enough to be a huge deal. People will always complain when Nexon sticks a price tag on anything, even if it's entirely reasonable. For whatever reason, it's cool to say Nexon grubs for money in everything that they do.

Besides, you don't need any NX at all to be a pro in Mabi if you're using r1 Golem Summoning. And there are lots of strong 1k+ people who got there using Freebirth. I prefer a cash shop over really crappy servers and banner ads flying around everywhere.

The alternative of "Cash Shop without advantages" would just make people say it's retarded like Maple Story clothing and pets. They'll hate no matter what.

Getting it is one thing, sustaining it and developing it is entirely different, and NX won't help them much there.
That's what I meant by over-dramatizing the whole NX thing. There isn't much you can do without several hundred dollars of NX that will create a lasting advantage. As much as this is a "fantasy life" you can't avoid the fact that money will get you everywhere in this world. That's not Nexon's fault.

He's implying you need to buy NX to get them yourself via the event. Of course we can always cough up big gold in-game to other players to get the event items through other means.
