Hmmm, it is indeed a bit disheartening to be in a situation like that.
I mean - you pour so much time and energy to a single person ... if you don't receive anything back, it's kind of a slap on the face.

I can tell you that friendships are supposed to be mutually beneficial. It doesn't have to be from a financial perspective, but simply an emotional one. If you hang out with a person and you just always feel miserable, then that's just being taken advantage of. I'm inclined to believe your mother knows this.

I would just tell her to be patient, sometimes help isn't always received the moment we ask for it. Her friends might not be able to help her in that very moment, but they might be able to in the future.

That - Or she needs new friends. XD
