Do I need my Cadet Ring?

It seems to have a story attached to it, so I'm not sure if I should get rid of it. The two rings I am currently wearing are better than the Cadet ring, so I don't need it. Is it just a normal ring, or will I need it for future quests, etc.?

If you already finished the quest asking you to bring one to Gwynn, you're done with it.

You won't need it for future quests, but if you plan on raising any alts at or around that level it's better to send it to them so they can instantly complete the quest upon receiving it.
