No, a few extra pixels won't cause the browser to crash, but it sure as hell won't break someone's back to trim it off, either.
I doubt ANYONE is going to measure their sigs
they will probably do a quick line up IF THAT
and though it may not be accurate
I doubt anyone is going to 'trim' away a few pixels because no one is actually going to measure it

I'm not suggesting you do anything
I said it would be a bit extreme is someone had 260 pixels and you guys forced them to change it
as if it was hurting anything
and I ONLY said that because someone was saying they were reporting sigs
which is okay, if it's OBVIOUSLY too large
but that just means that one or more people are actually looking for problems in sigs
so if they see one that's a tad over the limit and they report it, is it really necessary to change it?
and all of these were
"if"s
I never said you guys were being super anal about it
since as far as I know there has yet to be a problem like this

Thus far, all of the reported sigs have been well over the 400 pixel mark. No one's broken out the measuring tape yet...and I really hope they don't.

I can atest to that in another forum I used to go to. I got a violation for having a signature slightly too big and it was deleted for a A MEASLY FIVE PIXELS. If this starts happening, I'm gonna call shenanigans D:

If people are making sigs, it's really not that hard to start out with the right size to begin with, and if they're taking sigs from other places, re-sizing or cropping shouldn't be that hard either. Besides, this isn't the other forum Schezo is talking about. I think an infraction would only be reasonable if people were repeatedly and obviously disregarding the signature size rule.

Right, if they were 5 pixels over, a warning would be more appropriate. This isn't a plan to start throwing out infractions left and right; if we could transition without anyone getting their feelings hurt, that'd be the best case scenario.

We are not going to hammer down on people for now, we'll give time to adjust, meaning if we see someone that doesn't fit the regulation we will let them know, and expect them to change the signature as needed. After about a week or so we will start editing signatures ourselves when spotted.
