And it might be inefficient, but with enough hp gear and hp stat points instead of luk (once you have enough luk for all the hp gear), you can't be one shot by stronger enemies even if you don't use magic guard. So you can just keep healing.

And yes. Beginner's snail shell attack is FIXED DAMAGE.

I've killed party quest bosses in ludi with red shells.
