Question About the new Deer pets

Just wondering how they'll gather mushrooms; if it's something like a bird going to "Fetch!" an item, then not even remotely possible that I'll get one. If it's something like the command to Find an item among the personal shops, or a one use skill... mebbe. If it's like the dogs going an automatically picking up things for you, then yes.

You probably have to Manually pick a mushroom and it will go along with you.

I've heard two answers now that are directly contradictory.... from people who had the pets. ( I saw them with the pet and asked).
The first one told me that they gather mushrooms kinda like a dog fetches things; automatically.

The second one went with me to dugald Aisle to test it out (since they'd gotten it for it's cuteness and named it Bambeei.)
And we sat around for a bit. Nothing. actually gathered mushrooms (both myself and her).... and it did nothing.
saying "fetch!" didn't do anything either.... so I'm thinking either the deer pet was broken (this was the small spotted one) or .... you have to use an obscurely worded command to instruct it.

but from what I've seen and heard, the deer pets are broken. And knowing Nexon this isn't much of a surprize.

What, broken!? Really? The mushroom gathering ability is the only reason why I'd even bother getting one, and you're telling me Nexon borked an entire pet's gimmick!? Ugh... Granted, I haven't even seen how it works exactly since I've barely seen any info and pics along with no video of it in action.*

What I got out of entry 1 is that the mushrooms picked up by the deer goes into their inventory, but the translate regarding range and method is too confusing. Entry 2 has much more detail; you can order the pet to fetch a mushroom for you via the command "Mushroom!" and it'll harvest the mushroom for you without you having to do any dirty work.

P.S. For those who have read this post and own or know someone who owns a mushroom deer pet, go give the "Mushroom!" command a try (Or any possible variant of it.) when the 'shrooms are out and lemme know if it works or not. Also, do notify if they can harvest automatically like the pickup dogs do with dropped items or if they need a command every time.

I think it'll probably just walk over mushrooms instead of actually doing anything to grab them, after all it just says it'll "Help you find them"

Okay, now that I bought one with the free NX from lockout compensation, I can fully explain how the mushroom deers' gimmick works. As for if the ability was broken or not, I dunno, but it worked for me so if it was indeed broken before, it's fixed now.

• Command is mushroom! with the letters still able to work if any of them are capitalized. Shortening it to mush or shroom does not work.
• Deer has to be within certain range of a mushroom for the ability to work or else it'll just give the "..." reply. Not sure on the exact distance, but I'm guessing around bow range.
• Deer will run to nearest mushroom, gather it, and directly sends the harvested mushroom to its inventory. All other aspects of the gathering action (Speed and stamina usage.) are the same as the player's. The deer will only drop the mushroom if its inventory is full and cannot carry more of that type of mushroom.
• Deers cannot gather mushrooms while playing as it.
• Deers do NOT run around and automatically gather mushrooms if they are in range.
• Unfortunately, like all non-skill gathering actions, the deer's mushroom gathering ability does not come as a skill and thus no skill icon to put in your hotkey rows for easier execution. If there is a way to hotkey it, be it within the options with some weird keyboard command or the like, please enlighten me.

On its unique ability alone, I cannot really recommend this pet. The only advantage its gathering has over the player's is the lack of need to worry about being empty-handed to harvest and the ability to pick up the the mushroom all the way without dropping it. It might work as an extra hand for mushroom harvesting, but considering that the only way I know to execute the command is to type an 8-letter word + !, it can get a little tedious on the hands. If you still want to buy one after all that, go right ahead; thankfully it's quite a cheap pet that's also cute.

hm. I suppose typing mushroom! in some space outside of mabi, and then copying it, would let you just hit ctrl+v to paste it when you have chat open...
