Poison snakes are great!
I'm thinking about getting one-- the Coral Cobra obviously ('cause it gains more MP per level).
Should I stop leveling it though as soon as it hits 30 MP?
Making Poison takes 30 MP out of it and it's not really gonna be a combat pet. I could also feed it those MP 10's and 30's.
Ideas?

If you want to milk it for poison, the more mp the better, obviously. MP potions are hard to come buy unless you like to make potions. Another alternative is to log onto your snake and stand by a mana tunnel as a friend milks you (lol).

WHAT? I thought pets didn't gain MP while standing next to a mana tunnel??

I think if you logged on as them, then you do. I've never tried it though.

No, pets don't regain mp by mana tunnel, even if you are logged in as a pet.
Best I can think of is to stand in arena and wait for timer.
Also, I leveled my snake to level 18 or so. It has 71 mp at full-grown age which is more than enough.
I'd say to just level it to whatever you want.
Snakes are very useful for difficult shadow mission bosses which can be affected by poison. You don't have to milk them, just send them after those monsters. Other than that I don't use my snake much.

Is the application rate of poison high for pets? I read somewhere that poison success is based on target CP compared to user CP, wouldn't that make it hard for pets?
I was considering buying one, but if there's a higher change for my character to apply poison then I could just get by buying other people's poison potions and poison bottles.

I just got mine. :) Gooo free NX surveys!
Anywho, you are right, Justified. I saw a poison snake attacking a Shadow Commander in the mission Provocation and he wasn't poisoned.
I wouldn't be surprised to bet that CP has a lot to do with the probability.
Now to figure out if the Elephants' special skill reduces damage from fire Shadow mobs... hmm.
Anyone knows?

I think it's down to luck, but it's really worth it if you can get your poison snake to poison the commander. It does damage in the hundreds per second.
What we do is to just send the snake to attack and unsummon it back after a while, so the commander doesn't spot us.

They're not terrible combat pets either. Especially since their normal attacks are also poisoned. Just keep them out and take out their poison every once in a while. Don't even need to feed them mp pots unless you want to sell the poison. They're excellent for sniping off an enemy from a long distance. Pet revolver, but instead of dealing normal damage, now you can deal poison without attracting aggro.
I always keep like 4 or 6 bottles around in case the boss is a jerkwad with tons of hp and defense. But otherwise I saw no real point.
Considered the cost of mp and a bottle, selling it just isn't a huge profit. They sell, but they sell slowly.
