Dead Companion Tip:
Remember to loot everything off of your companion before resurrecting them, because passing in "1" for the argument doesn't seem to do what it's supposed to do (i.e. it always resets the NPC to their default inventory items no matter what).

Or get a mod that makes them essential. And only kllable by you so it doesn't mess up a certain quest.

That's precisely the problem. Magic tends to target any living thing around you (sometimes including yourself), so it's often (read: always) me who kills them. When "killed" by others, my companion simply stops to catch their breath for a moment... but that leaves them at 1 HP or so for the duration as well.

P.S. I could easily make Lydia essential, but sometimes I want to kill her when she whines sarcastically about having to carry the new awesome sword or other equipment I just gave her to use. I really want to make a mod that keeps her from giving that line every time you access her inventory. I wonder if one could make it trigger only afterward (as a dialogue finisher) when the player adds a certain amount of weight or more.

Oh, the mod link I gave also does that, it replaces the "I am sworn to carry your burdens." with something more enthusiastic.
