Pets are practically required in Mabi for a multitude of reasons. I just can't see pets being very useful or interesting in Vindi.
But we'll see when they actually implement it.

Most likely cosmetics. There's absolutely no use for them in Vindi, we have a pay2getmorebagroom, pay2getmoredamage, and a pay2looksexy already.

Ohh that would be fun to level up a pet throughout the game. It would keep things interesting especially for people who mainly fight solo(if of course the pet isn't like an Evie wisp/golem in the higher level dungeons...).
