He won't like that, but I would assume its glitched. Having to be placed down on the ground first or not at all would be the question.

Thanks to Grandmaster quests I solo'd A giant lion (with the mage talent title),
a Master Lich, Red dragon, the entire Martial arts tournament
and the ifrit (which i swear had the ranger master talent title)
