Where have all the good book series gone?
No book series I've read so far has captured my imagination as well as the classic Harry Potter, and the Inheritance Cycle. Even Charlie Bone was refreshing and an interesting read.
Twilight isn't the god-tier savior of mankind that those blasted fangirls make it out to be, and I honestly hate it for destroying Vampires nowadays. The Hunger Games was okay, but I found myself easily predicting the rest of the plot, and the last one felt so rushed.
Then all those glossy other books in the bookstore with some fancy looking guy on the cover, and never a face.
I haven't read Lord of the Rings yet, the sheer size of it is daunting, and I'm afraid of it being too confusing to follow through on.
Hell, some game storylines are richer than these new books. But it looks like I'll have to turn to animes for some good storyline.

I'm not a big book reader as I am a manga reader but I read the lord of the rings.
If you can't follow it good lord is it confusing. I had to start all over and give it my full attention.

Try the night angel trilogy and the demon cycle series both are amazing imo if you like fantasy

I don't have series but I'll list two books of which I really enjoyed.
The House of The Scorpion (basically about a clone)
Battle Royale (a much more intense version of The Hunger Games. Much less predictable than Hunger Games)

I think you need to broaden your horizons. :c
I'm kinda in the same boat, so I started reading standalone books...reading 1Q84 (which was originally released as 3 books) right now, and it's amazing. Though once i'm done with this, I want to read Game of Thrones.

LotR isn't confusing at all, don't worry.
I don't know if it's good or available in English, but the film version of the first book of the Pelle Erobreren trilogy is pretty damn great movie.
Plutôt on verra l'onde contre mont reculer,
Et plutôt l'œil du monde cessera de brûler,
Que l'amour qui m'époint décroisse d'un seul point.

Try The Red Wolf Conspiracy by Robert V.S. Redick.

Forgotten Realms series ftw.
Also, Maximum Ride, Redwall, the Sword of Truth Series, and Pendragon, just to name a few. And yeah, Lord of the Rings isn't all that confusing, and it's damn good.
