Why are people still getting married?

If I would marry, it would be a celebration of our partnership and a grandiose affirmation of my belief in their value as a partner. It wouldn't be a classical wedding though, my cultural values are way too different for that, and if she's the one I have considered worthy hers would necessarily be too.

Some people just want to reach the status quo.

The American Dream:
- Have a spouse
- Have 1-3 kids
- Have 1-2 pets
- Own a small home
- Own 1-2 cars
- At least one member has a successful white-collar job

You can then happily perish having done nothing unique with your life.

Don't forget:

gain 60Lbs watching lakers and red socks every week
going to a bar drowning yourself in alchohol
raising a kid who'll have an unreasonably low IQ
Send that kid in the army overseas
Die from cardiac arrest at age 50 ~ 55
family mourns
Wife finds new husband
children use that as a good example
Youngest daughter becomes a lesbian because new stepfather is abusive
Oldest son becomes drug addict, impregnates a 16year old girl and runs off and dissapears
and so on.

My dad told me about that quote. I agree with it c:

I see marriage as a really nice way to take that next step forward and show someone that you're committed to them. Of course, a lot of people don't really see it that way. Some people get married too quickly before they really know if they want to spend the rest of their life with that person. That or they just think it's cool or fun and do it just because :/
But as others said, it just depends on the person I suppose.

My family used to have 3 dogs before we moved. One of them ran away, the other we left back in the Dominican Republic.

It isn't that difficult. And there were 5 of us at home.

She thought we were all lazy, since she did most of the work with the dogs.

Even if people didnt feel a need for marriage, they do it because it takes place in every day life. From home ownership to doing taxes, some people do it out of love, some out of tradition, others out of force, and others out of convenience. There are people that have a marriage and people that use a marriage.
