It is kind of a pain, but, look at Throwing Attack. One of the reqs is only technically possible and the exp gain is abhorrently slow even without the 7 second cooldown.
Clearly, they don't put a lot of thought into skill training...
True...also the fact that when you deadly in wind guard the skill doesn't cancel...there for anything in the first 1-2/3 hits of it's attack and just finish you off... :l (BUT then again for that one I'm trusting the WIKI *self face paw* cus I'm not going to risk losing my HW >.>)
Wind Guard is just not that great of a skill. That's why I'm ranking Magic before that. That's why I believe it should be changed to a skill that gives Advanced Heavy Stander with motion (i.e. FH/FS style no-knockback). Instead of making a skill that allows one to get hit why not make a skill that makes one able to hit? Motion Advanced Heavy Stander isn't that broken anyway for 50 Seconds. IMO FH is still more broken (enemies don't retaliate at all unless Heavy Stander is in play).
And Stomp is like the easiest Giant Skill to train but it has limited but very significant uses (not good for damaging, instead for breaking an enemy's melee combo or a quick stun escape). Also for stats.
That's because tanking in general is ineffective, much more so when it comes to damage dealt by players. If your friend is not using mana shield, 60% of player damage is still enough to chew through normal HP quite easily.
Spoiler:
I wish that devCat would revamp this in some way, such as making Defense Points protect for more damage ):
But even without damage enchants, a player can do sufficient damage for even Elite Missions.
Not saying that it's not a great idea to Enchant for Damage, but it's not totally needed.

Tell that to me when four Black Ships Rats gang up on me against the wall.
I much rather prefer them doing 1~5 damage to me instead of 30~60 with 80~120 Critical Hits, even with my mediocre Tanking abilities.
With Mana shield and tiny Defensives: That situation will eat your Mana Pool before you can so much as breathe.
Now on-topic:
Darn, I didn't think about that - but I thought that at Rank 1 Wind Guard a Giant could reach 100% Protection?
I am uneducated on the topic of Giants.
And Players hit much harder than monsters can, when testing out Wind Guard.

Tanking can be effective, but only if you have 100% protection (which IS possible in windguard). So basically, you're an impenetrable wall, or a VERY ineffective meat shield that acts as a distraction more than anything. Also, go rafting with a friend who has magic shields, and get hit by goblins while protected with those. Hopefully you have a high level mage friend who could use some mana/int from ranking those skills, then it's a win-win.
this ^ but use mana shield... my giant although retired till prob G16 S2 uses high rank mana shield around 400 mana and 400 hp and it works really well together... and my WG isnt even rank 1..

Throwing attack isnt actually that hard of a skill to rank, it took me about 6 hours from r5 to r1 at warrior destiny.
You can use Throwing Attack, at most, 440 times in 6 hours. Assuming you had enemies lined up to be finished 100% of the time, you could have at most gotten about mid-way through r3.
And yes, that does take into account the double skill training...
