Hm, your golem idea is interesting.
However (as a joke), I prefer to have a golem gun. Nothing more dangerous than firing out golems which are 100x the size of the rifle it is coming out and blasting the enemy with it.
Nothing says ouch than when a huge animated piece of rock is smashed into your face from ego LLB distance.

I can imagine a spiral mess of rocks flying towards you, hitting you multiple times depending on number of charges!
Imagine if the golem hugged you while you get knock back off a cliff and pins you down. Of course that would only be a problem if you didn't die from the initial hit, and still had enough blood and conscious to think how terrible it is.
