Highlights of Evasion

Originally I was planning on ranking Evasion to Rank 9 because of this video:

But after testing it on an RP character, asking others to perform the technique, and finding an older thread about using Evasion during Windmill, I have discovered that this Windmill-Evasion combo is no longer possible.

I still have questions however.

1) Does Rank 9 Evasion provide any new combat possibilities?
2) Does rolling two times cause your character to travel farther than his/her normal running speed in the same amount of time?
3) If the answer to number 2 is yes, can Evasion be used to avoid contact with monsters when running normally would not (avoiding stampeding monsters, normal attacks)?
4) How often do you use Evasion?
5) Are there any good combinations to use involving Evasion (similar to that Windmill-Evasion video), or is Evasion strictly for avoiding bolt magic and arrows?

If you have anything to share about the PvP usage of Evasion, that's fine with me as I almost always appreciate any kind of information in general, but my questions are solely for PvE.

I've personally never used it for anything but dodging ranged attacks (which it works very well for if you ask me). Although I have seen people use it to dodge some melee attacks (with varying degrees of success). Sounds like you want to use it more like Backstep/Tumble, which is a g16 fighter skill.

Evasion was created to evade ranged attacks, not for follow-up combos. I mainly use it for evading ranged attacks (more frequently if I ever go messing around in PvP/EvG), and for running from poison Cerberus and SM Life Drains because Life Drain slows me down but Evasion is not slowed at all.

I have seen some videos, notably one of a KR Giant using Martial Arts and Evading to gain distance, but note that their latency is amazing over there, so it may not be possible here in NA.

But I would also agree with it being used to Evade, not intended for any offensive combos, but you can give it a shot.

I haven't tested this myself, but from using Evasion frequently, I would say no.
Also depends on latency, and which Character Race you are playing as, but even as a Human, I do not find it any faster, as Evasion only travels a short distance serving it's purpose to evade.

I cannot answer Number 2 fully, but as far as I know, the range of Stampede is too far to avoid even with 2 continuous Evasions.

4) How often do you use Evasion?
Very, as I commonly face spawns which include archers and magic-users together.

See my answer to Number 1, but I can say that Rank 9 is amazing in what it does.

At Rank 9 you can immedately execute a counter attack to the enemy using an Arrow or Magic without any "Standing Time" right after Evading.
But be sure to try to attack (as in target and click) the enemy or move while Rank 9 or higher, as you may have that "Standing Time" if not done.

I do not PvP myself, so PvE is great if you have Rank 9 and up!

In conclusion, I have to say:

At the very, very least get Rank A for 2 consecutive Evasions, if you do not plan on using regularly or as effective against ranged-attacks or for others who only want it for novelty purposes.
Rank 9: Not an option; get this to Rank 9 if you want it to be nearly as useful instead of a sitting duck to the enemy.

Surprisingly if you can get close (with r9 evade), evade - > normal attack is surprisingly fast.

In terms of movement speed:

Running>evade>walking

For humans anyway.

Indeed it is.
I stated that an attack could be made right after Evasion as a counter; it is awesome in that I can immediately start attacking after dodging their attack.

Also, if against an enemy who is smart and switches weapon right after firing a bolt/arrow, doing a Normal Attack is the best way to go.
